ACTIVITY 2-PERFORMANCE TASK:

The pandemic brought fear for many people. In just a couple of days,
our lives shifted. It has bought terror in people's lives with and intimidation.
People have lost their loved ones, their careers, and many people are dying
of starvation. For now, health and safety for everyone is the governments
priority. They are doing everything in their power to make our lives
breathable, that we don’t have to live in fear anymore. To avoid the spread of
the deadly virus, health precautions are being followed.

During this challenging time, the COVID-19 pandemic could be an

extra obstacle for all of us including the young ones. Others are also
struggling to transition to online jobs, raising their kids during the pandemic
and some have no alternatives but to take the risk just to earn money.
However, to avoid the spread of the deadly virus, the Department of
Education decided to offer various mode for students to continue learning. It
is good that they resort to these kinds of ideas because it will surely keep
our kids safe from the life-threatening virus. But somehow, President Rodrigo
Duterte accepted the Department of Education’s proposal to conduct face-to-
face classes in areas that are considered low risk.

Conducting face to face classes would a be a complete disaster even

for the low-risk areas. Schools lack of a school clinic, handwashing facilities,
school nurses and health safety would put students and teachers in danger.
According to rappler.com, 2,970 schools don't have basic handwashing
facilities, and only 13,081 schools have clinics. Information from DepEd goes
to show that 21,741,049 public school students this year, have only 3,657
public school nurses. This suggests that a school nurse will have a total of
5,945 pupils to visit. Without basic health protocols, school clinics,
handwashing facilities and school nurses how on earth can face to face be
conducted even for low-risk areas? We are facing the ultimate enemy here
that killed hundreds and thousands of people. It would only put the students
and employees in danger. Since school’s lack health facilities and health
protocols then conducting face to face classes is out of the question.

Resuming face to face classes in low- risk areas without social

distancing is stupid. The enemy we face today is invisible and it could kill us
in a matter of days. Students and Teachers safety should be prioritized if the
government were to resume face to face classes. According to Manila
bulletin the country now has a running classroom shortage of over 34,000.
DepEd gets lower budget for classrooms. The decrease in funding for the
Basic Education Inputs program, particularly for the new construction of
school buildings, is a huge challenge to the department. According to
Inquirer.net. Classroom shortages have been a problem even before the
pandemic and with shortage of classrooms we cannot hope students and
teachers to have social distancing and that would cause a big problem for
everyone.
Resuming face to face would be a risky idea. It would put children and
employees in real danger. The enemy we face today is invisible and it could
kill us in a matter of days. Students and teacher’s safety should the prime
concern. So, it is safe to say that face-to-face classes will never happened.
