BENEFITS OF ONLINE LEARNING TO SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

STUDENTS OF SAN SEBASTIAN CATHEDRAL SCHOOL.

INTRODUCTION:

Pandemic mediated by the outbreak of corona virus have affected most sectors
around the world. This includes the academic community, which consists of millions
of learners and teachers who previously took regular lessons at educational
institutions and are trapped at home for a pandemic. Online or digital courses have
grown in popularity over the last decade or two, but their use has increased
dramatically since the outbreak of the pandemic. The use of online learning has not
completely convinced people. Many of them still support traditional learning as a
digital learning method and believe that teaching in the classroom is ineffective.
Online learning has enabled people who were previously underserved by educational
institutions to be educated through online training. Convenient online training has
enabled almost everyone to return to school, making it easier for commuting to walk
to the computer, and making students feel great when studying. In the face of
thousands of students around the world studying, continuing the educational process,
and unable to learn during long-term blockages, online education is mostly to ensure
the protection of learners.

Our research study is all about “Benefits of Online Learning to Senior High
School Students of San Sebastian Cathedral School” so because of Covid 19 all of us
people are quarantined and students can’t go in their schools so that instead of
face-to-face classes we study online using Zoom meetings, Google classroom and
many apps that can help us to communicate with our classmates and teachers which is
very hard for us to adjust. We the researchers conducted this research because we
wanted to know what are the benefits of online learning to the students of San
Sebastian Cathedral School. First of all we wanted to know if online learning offers
students an efficient way on understanding their lessons than regular face-to-face
classes, second one is can online learning helps them to manage their time because in
online classes they can attend their respective classes in any location or place, third is
is studying online is more affordable than normal face-to-face classes since we don’t
have many expenses only our internet connection and gadgets, fourth is can online
classes improve students attendance since they can attend their classes anywhere.

why is this is 1st person?

We researchers had searched for information on the aftermath of the 1918 flu
and here are some of the details on what immediately happened once the flu went
away for good. The 1918 influenza pandemic was the most deadly in recent history.
This was caused by the h1n1 virus which carries a gene from birds. There is no
general consensus on where the virus originated, but it spread around the world
between 1918 and 1919. The Spanish flu had 4 waves and then disappeared. It's now
January 2022 and we are in the middle of the 4th wave since history tends to repeat
itself we should now see progress. During their 4th wave it was widely spreading but
symptoms were very mild just like right now with the 4th wave of Omicron. It's
amazing that the Spanish Flu killed so many people and is pretty much forgotten.
Until recently we researchers didn't see much documentary material about the
pandemic. But now it seems that some people are mentioning the pandemic in
comparison to COVID-19. Sadly now viruses are leveraged for political gain moreso
than in the past regardless of how serious the infection. If people don't start thinking
for themselves, and living healthy lives. We will end up with less freedom and quite a
bit of regression. A quote that may not be exact but always relevant. "Those that
forget the past are doomed to repeat it."

During 1918 Spanish flu outbreak, the worst in history, affected 500 million
individuals globally one-third of the world's population. There were no effective
medications or antibodies available for treating this deadly flu strain at the time. First
before virus ceased its terrible global march, citizens were required to wear masks,
schools, theaters, and business were closed, and remains were stacked up in makeshift
tents. Although the exact origins of the influenza virus that started the pandemic
remain a mystery, the 1918 flu first was diagnosed in Europe, America, and portions
of Asia before got stronger to virtually all other area of the world. We researchers
believed that the era in which it happened also played a role in its mortality rate, lack
of understanding of the virus, lack of technology to do so, and also the economy, is
proven that the more economically stable you are the stronger your immune system
becomes. Now we researchers know that corona virus is just a normie compared to
what nature could really bring to us.

Benefits of online education of senior high school students at San Sebastian

cathedral school is the title of our study and also our main aim. The World Health
Organization announced the deadly virus a pandemic. Every economic, social,
cultural, and political activity came to a standstill. Pandemic started here in the
Philippines way back 2019, we happened to accept the adjustments since we are
facing a deadly threat for us, new rules and regulations were declared for us to follow
these guidelines. Governments advised locals to remain indoors and practice social
distancing. Citizens are expected to wear face masks and face shields when going out
use sanitizers and wash their hands consistently. Schools and universities sent learners
back home and continued schooling through online portals. Since then, new normal
learning which is online classes are approved to be our way to continue our studies,
we have come to realize the gains and difficulties of new normal system. Learners
always see the shortcomings of online learning that can lead them to be more idle type
of student in class. Benefits to gain and can be gain through our new online learning
system specifically adaptable timetables that suits every student’s everyday basis. We
conducted this study to examine the advances that the students can get that who come
across the pandemic furthermore to give new discoveries of the benefits of online
education to let them understand that in a midst of suffering events we can always
look for the bright side to survive the obstacles in our life. We are determined to
accomplish this study to have a completely comprehension and widen more our
knowledge regarding about this topic, the senior high students are the ones who will
benefit from this paper, the desire to resolve or their difficulties of new system of
learning or at least we have to let hem realize the aids that they can gain from our
studies.

Since Corona Virus spreads not just the businesses and workers were affected,
but also the students who are now facing the Online Learning platform because of the
pandemic, in this study, we researchers want to know what are the possible benefits of
Online Learning to senior high school students of San Sebastian Cathedral School,
and we researchers wants to pursue this study so that we can share some of the ideas
that we came up to help them in this new way of learning. We researchers have some
possible way to make this Online Learning platform become more so easy to the
senior high school students. The best way to make your Online Learning easy is time
management, make some schedule for your time and make sure that you will
prioritize your studies over your hubbies like gadgets etc. Since you are at home while
you are attending classes, it is easier to communicate with your teacher and participate
in your class. Whether you are full time or half time with your class it always has an
synchronous classes wherein you are attending classes and making lectures for a
certain subject, and asynchronous meaning that you can complete your lectures,
activities, and projects at your own peace, so you better have a healthy time
management especially to your studies so that Online Learning will be easy for you.

In this study, we researchers want to discover, how Online Learning benefits

the student particularly the senior high school student of San Sebastian Cathedral
School. We want to know how they are coping up with this new way of learning,
because in this time of pandemic, through social media we researchers are always
seeing a negative impact of online learning to the students, they want to go back with
the face to face classes, some them don’t know how to cope up with this way of
learning and sometimes having a hard time leads the student to stress, anxiety,
depression even suicide. That’s why we researchers want to discover some advantages
or benefits of this new way learning to students so that the readers of this study will
get some knowledge and will know that Online Learning platform also have positive,
advantages, or benefits to students.
In general thought distance learning are instruction and learning provided
remotely as whole course or through a large portion since face-to-face interactions are
limited in the present time. Technology played a vital role in admitting distance
learning to happen asynchronous or synchronously. As a student, technology is very
valuable to have nowadays, distance learning here in Philippines are created for
students to attend online classes. Applications or platforms especially Zoom, Google
meet, Ms. Team, Google duo and more, are the ones that plays a bigger role in virtual
learning. Moreover, apps or websites are created only for students to create, take
quizzes, exams, pass activities and projects in this certain application. According to,
child hope organization article almost half of students has been affected due to
pandemic. Issues on education in the Philippines have degraded, considering the
Covid-19 pandemic. Department of Education has used the method online learning
simulations, while applying blended learning. All of these includes online classes,
object lesson via TV, printouts, and other social media platforms that we can use in
distance learning. Students and teachers can use technology to access and teach in
various ways. Many universities and colleges have also applied virtual learning
systems under the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Remarkable changes in
new learning environment throughout and after the pandemic are considered in such
systems. Department of the Education, they provide three cooperative options for the
students 1st online, which uses available online classrooms for the teaching and
instructions; 2nd modular or offline, involves printed modules or digital media in
storage devices; and 3rd blended which combines online and offline learning modes in
the Philippine’s education since we are facing a pandemic in such time. organized you intro more it

Covid 19 has caused a temporary interruption to educational activities inside
the classroom and the government decided to just study online by using apps that can
help you to interact with your teacher and classmates. Online education has the
potential to transform the educational system by expanding educational opportunities,
but studies suggest that online and traditional education are comparable in terms of
learning outcomes. It is also acknowledged that online learning is perceived to be less
interactive than normal classroom learning. However, according to a study involving
156 students, there was no statistically significant difference in learning preferences
between students taking online classes and face-to-face classes. The effectiveness of
online education has demonstrated a number of benefits as a result of increased
flexibility and learning opportunities. It is also reported that students feel comfortable
using the internet and their general feeling of satisfaction with the online experience,
Research also proof the technology positively affect the approach of students on
learning in online classes because they know that it will be convenient and easier for
them.
This blogpost offers a literature review on the efficacy and importance of online
distance learning. I consider what the literature tells us about the importance of
building a learning community. I also consider whether distance learning works better
for some students and whether it supports self-regulated learning.
Academic achievement and retention are worse for students following distance
learning programmed. However, there is evidence of equivalence across several
outcome measures. Research into hybrid instruction indicates that students achieve
outcomes that match, if not exceed those of other modalities - such as traditional
classroom teaching
According to the study of (Anne-Mette et. al,. Anne Kristine et.al, and Soren
et.al., conducted way back 2017. A literature review influencing E-learning, and
blended learning in relation to e.g, learning conclusions, student’s satisfaction, and
engagement. In higher education distance learning gaining much more influence
particularly in form of blended learning, and this new kind of traditional teaching can
be exercise in many ways. The study conducted showed the comparison analysis of
traditional face-to-face classes and virtual learning.
The purpose of this research is to synthesize the importance of the factors to
lead the student persistence. There persistence of the student was the result of their
success or completion of the online course, the factors identify as contributing to
success an also included. The student will choose their course for what they want. To
their outcome hardship in completing a course. The terminology is being doubt
between perseverance and success, Factors associated with a student’s perseverance
in an online program include his or her satisfaction in online learning, a sense of
belonging to the learning community, motivation, perseverance, and support your
family, skills in handling your own time, and increased communication with different
schools. Persistence carries the inspiration of being the possibility to achieve success.
Efforts by students to pass their course. If the persistence factors are not in sufficient
reason, the student you can choose your own course and you can even think about it
while you are still studying. spacing is way off
The expanse of the Internet and the simplicity with which technology can be

web-based education and learning are in high demand. Across the country, online
education is fast entering school districts and colleges. This study evaluates whether
online classes could assist high school students, as well as the potential problems and
disadvantages of online education. This report raises concerns about how to best help
high school students taking online classes.
The COVID19 pandemic has influenced all levels of education in different
ways. Institutions and teacher educators needed to respond quickly to unexpected
“forced” transitions from facetoface learning to distance learning. They also had to
create a learning environment for student teachers to prepare for the demands of
teacher education programs and the conditions under which both the university and
the school must be run. This dissertation provides an overview of the literature on
online education and learning practices in teacher education. A total of 134 empirical
studies were evaluated. Online teaching and learning practices related to social,
cognitive and educational presence have been identified. The findings emphasized the
need for a comprehensive review of the pedagogy of online education that integrates
technologies that support education and learning. The implications of this study for
the development of online teaching and learning practices are explained. Suggestions
for further research will also be considered.

In relation to the study, the study conducted the benefits of online learning.
Distance learning is a form of education that uses an internet connection. In the
present time virtual learning is relevant right now to the students, without going to
school but they can still learn through their homes or any place they want if they have
internet connection and appropriate devices to use.
It is now a popular way on how students learn without going to school but they can
still learn and study through their home or any place they want as long as they have
their internet connection. This kind of online learning is existed all over the world and
in all kinds of levels of education. It is now a very in-demand kind of learning for
students who cannot go to school premises.
Online learning challenges of college students varied in terms of type and
extent. The covid-19 pandemic had the greatest impact on the quality of the learning
experience and students' mental health. implications for classroom practice,
policy-making, and future research are discussed.
Since the 1990s, the world has seen significant changes in the landscape of education.
One such development is the adoption of online learning across different learning
contexts. Recently, the education system has faced an unprecedented health crisis (i.e.,
COVID-19 pandemic). The current circumstance is unique as it could aggravate the
challenges experienced during online learning due to restrictions in movement and
health protocols. Addressing these areas would shed light on the extent of challenges
that students experience in a full online learning space, particularly within the context
of the pandemic.
The main goal of this research is the self-efficiency of the academic
performance of the senior high school students. The study explained how having a
high level and low level of self-efficacy can affect the academic
performance of the student. The self- efficiency refers to the student role of their
performance for being more confident for their self and do they best for their
performances as individual's. For that is easier for the student to adapt the changes
that it will currently in. The most strength of the self-efficiency is to be a most active
when it comes to a academic performance or being confident to yourself being
comfortable of the changes you make, they motivate the student to do their task like to
learn to the classroom discussion and participate to the assessment they do, You need
to develop the self-efficiency. They say self-efficiency significantly affect Senior
High School Student academic performance in class, and mostly the student has a
level of self-efficiency to make develop the student. This school should continue his
academic programs for the student to their progress of being acquiring relevant skills
of the school. Self- efficiency identity of the individual to be focus of being
productive and effective in their task that being assign to every student.
The usual face-to-face meeting in the classroom can be extended to a virtual
setting for learning and the internet is used as a tool for extending education and
learning. The technology industry has produced dynamic websites to help in
facilitating for online learning.
The Misamis University Online Learning Environment (MUOLE), which was
designed as a supplemental tool for classroom learning in all information technology
and computer science areas, was evaluated in this study. A total of 342 students
completed the evaluation tool and this student rated the MU-OLE as an effective
online learning system for obtaining instructional materials and assignments, taking
quizzes and tests, submitting requirements, checking files, and accessing scores via
their protected personal account, according to the findings.
It was also discovered that combining an online learning system with traditional
instruction provides students with a great degree of convenience in improving their
learning.
According to Visually (2020), every student has different ways of learning that
works for them. There are many benefits of online education such as lessons can be
paused, notes read at will, online courses can be opened 24/7, students are exposed to
knowledge shared by the instructors around the globe which cannot be learned in
books and could lessen student interaction especially in this tike of pandemic.
