Hydrustent SA was born in 2016 with the mission of designing and developing innovative
medical technologies that contribute to overcome problems observed in clinical practice.
We have successfully developed innovative medical devices for urology and
gastroenterology. Our patented technology allowed us to create the first 100%
biodegradable hydrogel-based ureteral stent (Hydrustent®). This product eliminates the
need for a second surgery, avoids bacterial infection/encrustation, and reduces treatment
cost in 60%.
In 2019 the company became certified under international standards (ISO 9001, ISO 13485
and NP4457) and continued to expand its medical technologies portfolio in urology
(Hydrusensor technology).
After 4 years of chasing healthcare medical solutions, we have established several
partnerships and, embraced different projects. This led us to broaden our scope of action,
new products were developed (a colostomy technology, sterile solutions for urological
catheters), and consequently, the company has rebranded to HYDRUMEDICAL.
More recently, as a rapid response to the market needs in the pandemic situation,
HYDRUMEDICAL launched a medical infection control line, a full range of disinfectant
products that provide a safe environment in healthcare and near-patient environments. For
that, we have invested in a production site with an automated system for containers filling
(from 50mL to 1L), encapsulating, and labelling.
With the eyes set in the future, we are certain that our enthusiasm and willingness will
make a difference in the healthcare arena.

Mechanism of action
Didecyldimethylammonium (DDAC) is a
disinfectant used in several biocidal
applications. It causes disruption of
intermolecular interactions of pathogens,
stopping their activity and propagation. DDAC
is recommended to be used for surface
disinfection in hospitals, hotels and industries.
DDAC positively charged regions attract
negatively charged complexes at the
surface of different microorganisms. After
this, these regions pierce the outer structure
of the microorganisms, causing their
disruption, thus inactivating them.
