The Influence of Eggs on Economy Changes.

Layer poultry farming means raising egg laying poultry birds for the purpose of commercial
egg production,one of which is laying hens. Along with the increasing public need for egg itself,
this one business will be very promising for anyone who runs it. Bisides promising, this business
can also be run casually but still profitable,and this business opportunity is still very wide. Even
though there may be some related diseases such us diseases, but they are very rare and the

First ,the need for eggs is increasing every year. Director of Livestock Breeding and Production ,
Directorate General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health, Sugiono said demand for eggs has
increased by an average of 10% every year. Therefore, layer hen farmers do not need to worry
about marketing problems because the demand for eggs will continue to increase and of course,
it takes an egg producer to meet these needs.

Second, this business can be run casually but still profitable. Based on my interview with layer
chiken farmer named Mrs.Sahnun says, “ I really enjoy doing this business because this
business is not tiring, I only work when I feed the laying hens and collect the eggs, so I have
plenty of time to do other things such as being able to take care of housework, and so on”. For
the income, mrs. Sahnun revealed that the income from this business around Rp.4,000,000 per
month from 300 laying hens. From that income, now Sahnun can enlarge her farm business by
increasing the number of laying hens by 1000.

Third,the opportunity in this business is very wide. This business opportunity is still very wide
because not many people have been involved in this business, so there are not many
competitors. In West Nusa Tenggara there are still very few people who run this business, so
they cannot meet the eggs of the community. The NTB Provincial Statistic Agency, notes that
NTB is highly dependent on the supply of eggs from outside region. In fact, the need for eggs
from NTB province to be imported from outside the region reaches 97,57% . That is the reason
why laying hens has the potential to be a business, especially in Lombok.

From the text above it can be concluded that laying hens are very worth it to be a business. If it
done in the long term,it has very potential to be a successful business. It can see from the
success of mrs.Sahnun initially only has 300 laying hens with Rp. 4,000,000 net income per
month,now has 1000 laying hans with income of around Rp.12,000,000 net per month. And as
time goes by will continue to grow.
