Preparation of single enterprise farm plan

Commercial dairy cow farming business

Introduction
Milk and milk produce has increasing demand throughout the world, demand of milk will never reduce.
Vegetarian and non- vegetarian both drink milk, dairy cow farming is eco-friendly and it will not pollute
the environment these are the reason why we are planning to start commercial dairy cow farming
business. Starting a dairy cow farming business is not an easy task but our group who have just complete
the bachelor level study in agriculture and veterinary science have planned to start commercial cow
farming enterprise. Being a student of agriculture and animal science we have a lot of ideas about the
difficulties that we may face during our farm business.TO collect more information we have visited
several farm near to our farm site. The plan location of our farm is Butwal 16, taamnagar which is
perfect in term of infrastructure and as for local market Butwal municipality is its main target. For
legalizing the farm we have registered the farm as”nirmal cow farm”. The identity number of the farm is
lu.1005. As for the source of fund I would like to introduce the partner of this farm Mr melong Gm
whose have completed bachelor level study in agricultural science and have several working experience
in the field of agri enterprise and similarly our another partner Dr.nirmal nepali whose is professor in
veterinary science and is an employer of many livestock farm. Our next partner is Mr.Avinash kafle
whose have completed his master study in agri economics .our partnership will be as general type there
will be equal share of income and expenditure.

Technology
Aiming a big only doesn’t provide you a success we have to walk with the time and should have proper
knowledge of new technologies. As our farm location is in tropical region we should select the breed of
cow which can tolerate maximum heat giving maximum output with minimum risk .we are selecting
jersey as a breed for our farm 7%fat, which is good enough in milk production and fat contain .Average
milk production per lactation period is around 4000-4500 lit, fat contain around 7%. The breed is hardy,
heifer grow more rapidly and early. As for the housing system we will select tail to tail system because it
makes little chance of disease transmission and mouth part facing toward outside will allow to get
maximum sunlight. Usually 80 sq. ft open space and 40 sq. ft inside house is required per cow ,proper
ventilation ,concrete housing , sufficient flow of air and light inside the house are the primary
requirement of the farm. For milking of cow we will use both hand milking and machine milking. It is
better to provide separate room for cow during milking and to insure the cow is feeling confort during
milking we are constructing separate room for milking .we will also have a store room too. For disease
control vaccination will be done by our veterinary doctor during needs and special medicine will be in
the farm as emergency,Keeping the house clean and wash the cow regularly.
Product and marketing
We will have around 10 cows in initial phage but we will prepare the infrastructure obligatory for around
30 cows .Though the farm will be in taamnagar our main market office will be near of butwal bus park
.we will not only sell milk but other product such as cheese, curd, ghee, sweets will be in top priority.
We will be providing our product round the year with the brand name of “nirmal”.If the plan goes all
correct we will start the similar business focusing Kathmandu, pokhara and chitwan in near future. As
for the marketing strategy we will conduct a campaign” NIRMAL milk directly from teats to mouth”. Our
product will be organic no additives and will form a marketing committee We will have around 25 cows

Feeding and labor

Farm cow should give a proper care in feeding adequate amount of nutritive food .Forage which refer
to hay and straw are most required nutrient for cow and for the addition of nutrient cereal grain are also
provided and as we know green grass will increase the production of milk , around five katha land is
taken in lease for the cultivation of feeding grasses .As for the concern of labor we are hiring five labor
