alcoholic are?

IN OUR SOCIETY
1) Accidents
- Accidental injury is the leading cause of death among older adolescent and young
adult, and bridge drinking is involved in many of these accidents.
2) Sexual Assault
- School with patterns of heavy or binge drinking have more incidents of verbal,
physical and sexual assaults and property damage. At least half of the sexual abuse
on college campuses involve alcohol consumption by the perpetrator, the victim or
both.
2. There are a lot of factors that contribute to drug addiction, some
of them are?
- In the Body, alcohol is a toxic drug with irritating as well as sedative properties.
It can cause negative effects on every tissue in the human body.
1) BRAIN
a) Amnesia, most commonly called blackouts, causes,
partials or sometimes temporary loss of memory, often
following binge patterns of alcohol used.
b) Permanent loss of memory and mental confusion.
c) Damage to the cerebellum, affecting balance and
coordination.
2.)PERIPHERAL NERVES
a) Usually in the legs and sometimes other extremities,
alcoholics experience pain, loss of sensation and general
weakness.
b) Optic nerves are damaged, causing blurred or dimmed
vision.
3.)GASTROIN TESTINAL TRACT
a) Gastritis esophagitis, irritation of the lining of the
esophagus and stomach, causing mild to severe plain;
may aggravate an ulcer
b) Peptic ulcer at the outlet of the stomach
c) Fatty liver, hepatitis or cirrhosis
4.)HEART AND BLOOD VESSELS
a) Heart muscles becomes weaker, at the heart expands
because it is working harder. Alcohol complicates
problems with heart disease.
b) Peripheral blood vessels are dilated by alcohol
initially, this causes a sensation of warmth. The old
habit of drinking alcohol to fend off the cold actually
makes the person more susceptible to the cold.
c) High blood pressure is often associated with
alcoholism, but the relationship is not clearly
established.
5.)LUNGS
- Emphysema occurs most frequently in the alcoholic who also smokes, alcohol
seems to have a direct toxic effect on the cells lining the alveoli or small air sacs in
the lungs.
3. The family plays a great role in preventing someone to use illegal drugs
because?
- Initiation of substance use in early adolescence is predictive of many
negative outcomes in adulthood, compromising work, family roles, educational
achievement, and ongoing drug involvement. Most youths, about 90%, believe
their parents would strongly disapprove of their using substances, including
tobacco cigarettes, alcohol, or marijuana. Most importantly, youths aged 12 to 17
who believed their parents would strongly disapprove of their using specific
substances were less likely to use these substances than those who believed their
parents would somewhat disapprove or neither approve nor disapprove.
4. As a student of law-abiding citizen, I can help eradicate the use of drugs by?
MEDICAL USES
A record distributed for the non-benefit support association Europe Against Drugs
(EURAD) contends that "one can't decide in favor of a medication" and that a
logical endorsement premise is fundamental. It says that EU precludes set severe
models for the acknowledgment of a medication for clinical use:
All active ingredients have to be identified and their chemistry determined. They
have to be tested for purity with limits set for all impurities including pesticides,
microbe & fungi and their products. These tests have to be validated and
reproduced if necessary, in an official laboratory. Animal testing will include
information on fertility, embryo toxicity, immuno-toxicity, mutagenic and
carcinogenic potential.
Risks to humans, especially pregnant women and lactating mothers, will be
evaluated. Adequate safety and efficacy trials must be carried out. They must state
the method of administration and report on the results from different groups, i.e.
healthy volunteers, patients, special groups of the elderly, people with liver and
kidney problems and pregnant women. Adverse drug reactions (ADR) have to be
stated and include any effects on driving or operating machinery.
5. I don’t want to smoke cigarette because?
- Smoking is responsible for more than 400,000 deaths annually, most cases are
related to lung cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Cigarettes kill more people than
AIDS, accidents, fires, illegal drugs and suitable combined. Smoking tobacco is the
single most presentable cause of death.
Almost 35% of young people’s belief about smoking revealed that fourth – graders
held very negative beliefs about smoking and were strongly anti – smoking. Many
children have strong all – or – nothing, black – and – white, concrete beliefs about
things. On the contrary, adolescents tend to the gray on issues, and their beliefs are
less concrete and rigid.
Although adolescents see smoking as being somewhat risky, they admire some
aspects of smoking. Two primary aspects of cigarette smoking that adolescents
viewed as a favorable were solidarity with friends and providing relief from
boredom (Fields 2204).
