Leading up to The American Revolution

The American Revolution was a pivotal point for
America gaining its independence. There were many
factors that lead to that revolution, today we will cover
The Boston Tea Party.

The Boston Tea Party How much Tea was lost?

On December 16, 1773 a group of American
Patriots dressed as American Indians
dumped British tea into Boston harbor in
response
to The
Tea Act.
This was
one of

Who did it?
A political group of men that called
themselves, The Sons of Liberty. It is
believed that there were anywhere from 30
to 130 men who took part in the event.
After the Boston Tea Party was said and
done, a total of 342 chests of tea were
destroyed and thrown overboard into the
harbor. It was done in an effort to stop it
from being sold or consumed.
What resulted from this?
The British responded by several acts to
punish the colonists. The Boston Port Act
closed port at Boston harbor until the British
were repaid for damages and tea. The
Intolerable Acts followed. These acts took
away any and all self-governing rights of the
colonists in hopes of making an example of
the colonists and ending their resistance.
Those attempts failed and ultimately started
the American Revolutionary War in 1775.

Knowing our history and how it is we ended up being free people is vital to future generations. If
we know and study our past, we ensure that we are not doomed to repeat it.
