America Ferrera my identity is a superpower not an obstacle?

1. How does America Ferrera see herself? She saw herself as an American at first but then she
started to see herself as how the people saw her.
2. How does the world view Ms. Ferrera? (from her perspective) she thought the world
viewed her as the type of person that would never make it in Hollywood, as a person that will
never be in the center. They saw her as too fat, too brown, too poor, and too unsophisticated,
to ethnic. She was a person of less value.
3. What were the obstacles that were holding her back from her dream? Her identity was her

4. Has her situation changed? I believe her situation as a Hispanic woman has not changed,

because people will always see her as a Latin person. But since she accepted herself as her, she

accepted that she is ready to stop resisting and start existing as her full and authentic self. So,

5. Have you experienced obstacles in your life? Yes, just like everyone I have had some
obstacles in my life. People telling me i was not smart enough, or good enough, people making
me choose between what I want or them.

when people said I was not good enough, or smart enough i had to prove them wrong. Working
twice as hard. To prove to myself I can do this. I do not need anyone's approval; I do not care
how people viewed me. Nowadays no one can bring my dreams down. If i put my mind to
something i will accomplish it.

7. Do you agree or disagree with Ms. Ferrera regarding people wanting to view real life

stories in their entertainment? Explain your answer. Yes, I do agree with her, I feel like real life
stories are a real eye opener to people. Also, I watch a lot of Latin movies when they tell a
story, because I feel like I can relate to them. Seeing how people like me and what have gone
