LIGHTNING POLE AND ROAD SIGN


1. Scope of Work and Work Description

This method statement describes work of installing lightning pole and road sign on connecting bridge works.
The stage of installing lightning pole and road sign are illustrated by Figure 1 and 2.

2. Work Explanation
2.1 Material
Materials used for lightning pole work are as follows :
1. Street lightning pole type A2
2. Cable Type-1
3. Cable Type-2
4. Cable Type-3
5. Cable Type-4
6. Cable Type-5
7. Cable Type-6
8. PVC Conduit Ø 4”
9. Pull Box Type A and B

Materials used for road sign work are as follows :


1. Cement Mortar
2. Traffic Signs
3. Traffic Guide Signs

2.2 Tools
Tools used for lightning pole and road sign work are as follows :
1. Stamper
2. Hammer
3. Welding Tools
4. Bolt
5. Bolt Fastener
6. Excavator
7. Screwdriver
8. Saw Cutting Concrete Machine

2.3 Lightning Pole


Method of installing of lightning pole consist of 2 type are civil work and electrical wor.
a. Civil Work
Civil work of lightning pole are the work of installing the pole and concrete (foundation) to withstand
load of vertical and horizontal from lightning pole. This work consist of :
1. Concrete work for foundation of lightning pole
2. Installation of lightning pole

b. Electrical Work
1. Installation of electric wiring
2. Cable which is under protected by using PVC pipe
3. Installed pull box on the lightning pole
4. Do megger test to make sure lightning pole working

2.4 Road Sign


Road signs must be installed as close as practical to the locations specified on the drawings. All signs must
be positioned to :
 Be clearly legible to all road users with adequate sight distance
 Not create a hazard to road users
 Provide adequate clearance from underground and overhead services
 Not compete with other traffic signs, traffic control devices or roadside furniture
 Where appropriate, be placed in locations that allow adequate reading time for all road users and
adequate time and travel distance for the road user to act on the message
 Not be placed in locations where the sign will be partially hidden by any roadside objects, furniture or
vegetation

a. Installation of Foundation
The installation of foundation consist of :
 Cutting concrete on the barrier for the foundation.
 Install the plate as foundation for road sign and supports
 Carried out casting after the position of the plate has been fixed in aacordance with the image

b. Installation of Road Sign and Supports


The installation of road sign and supports consist of :

 Check the road sign and support aacording with the shop drawing
 Installation of road sign with the support (pole) done by welding according to the specification and
shop drawing
 Lifting the road signs and support using excavator and installed according to the location of
foundation.

The Contractor will carry out following actions to avoid mistakes and to secure the quality.

• Especially, the Contractor will explain the work procedure and materials to be used to the sub-contractor.
• All survey work will be checked by the Engineer’s surveyor.

• All material and shop drawing will be tested and approved prior to commence the work.

• Sampling and Test in the site will be done with attendance of the Engineer’s inspector.

• Result of tests will record and analyse to evaluate the quality

4. Work Scheduling
Work schedule will be planned to follow description on Table 2 and Table 3 below
