Question:
1) Mention seven characteristics of living organism (MRS GREN)!
2) What are the definition of artificial system of classification and natural system of
calssification in biology?
3) What is binomial system of naming species and what do first second names
indicate?
4) Why is it important to classify organism?
5) Mention the whittaker five-kingdom?
Answer:
1) The seven characteristics of living organism
1. Movement
2. Respiration
3. Sensitivity
4. Growth
5. Reproduction
6. Excretion
7. Nutrition
2) – Classification of artificial system is a classification that use one or two
characteristics in living organism and is adjusted using features or characteristics
that are in accordance with homan will or other characteristics. For example the
classification of plants can use a basic habitat (place of life), or based on trees,
shrubs, bushes, livestock, and climbing.
_ Classification of natural system is a system that requires the formation of
natural taxon groups. This means that members forming taxon units occur
naturally or naturally as desired by nature. For example the classification of
natural system using basic similarities and morphology differences (Form outside
the body naturally).
3) The Binomial System of naming species is an internationally agreed system in
which the scientific name of an organism is made up of two parts showing the
genus and the species. Binomial means “Two Names”; The first name gives the
genus and the second gives the species. For example, the stoat and weasel are
both in the genus Mustela but they are different species; The first stost is Mustela
erminea and the weasel is Mustela nivalis.
4) Because By classifying organism it is possible to identify those most at risk of
extinction. Strategies can then be put in place to conserve the threatened species.
And by classifying organism it is also possible to understand evolutionary
relationships. Vertebrates all have the presence of a vertebral column, along with
a skull protecting a brain, and pair of jaws (Usually with teeth). By studying the
anatomy of different groups of vertebrates it is possible to again an insight into
their evolution.
5) The whittaker five-kingdom
1. Kingdom Animal
2. Kingdom Plant
3. Kingdom Fungus
4. Kingdom Prokaryote
5. Kingdom Protoctist
