There is a wide shot, displaying the large Victorian house. The lights are on inside. The camera angle switches, and Emma Taylor is seen in her kitchen in her pajamas from the window, making herself a tea before she heads up to bed. She turns off the kitchen light, resulting in darkness upon the screen. It is silent and the distant barking of a neighboring dog is heard along with quiet whistles from the birds in the trees. The camera angle switches to the bottom of the staircase, the bottom floor is dark, but the landing lights are on. Emma then walks up the stairs, with her coffee in hand, heading into her room. The camera angle switches back to the first shot from outside, and Emma is seen pulling her blinds down, then closing the slats. From the same shot from the bottom of the staircase, Emma is then seen going into the bathroom. The angle changes as Emma begins to brush her teeth, there is a close up of the paste leaving the tube onto her toothbrush. After she has brushed, she turns on the tap and drinks from it before spitting out the water from her mouth. The camera follows the movement of her head going down and then up when she takes a drink. As she raises her head and looks at herself in the mirror a child’s handprint is seen in the back window printed into the condensation windows. Emma takes no notice of this, turns the light off in the bathroom then landing before going into her room and closing the door. The light from inside her room then switches off leaving complete darkness upon the screen. INT: MORNING – VICTORIAN HOUSE The alarm sounds, waking her up in the morning. A smooth gliding shot shows Emma getting up in the morning. She walks over to her blinds. From outside, we see Emma opening her blinds letting the morning light brighten her room. From below the stairs, the camera shows her walking into the bathroom, getting ready for her day ahead. Cutting into the bathroom, she begins to brush her teeth repeating what she did last night. As she spits the water out her mouth, she then looks up at herself. There is a muddy footprint, on the floor. A worried and confused look starts to resonate on her face, as she wipes away the handprint from the mirror. She walks back into her room, grabbing her mobile from her bedside table. She sits on the side of her bed, and begins to dial her boyfriend’s number. EMMA: Hi Tod, did you let yourself in last night? BOYFRIEND: Yeh, I had to grab my jacket. EMMA: Oh, it was just that I saw that you left your muddy prints everywhere. BOYFRIEND: Oh, sorry love I didn’t realise my feet were muddy. EMMA: Oh well it’s still a relief. I thought that someone could have broken in. In the future, please let me know before, you frightened me.
This is filmed from behind Emma, as she sits on the side of
the bed. The camera angle switches half way through to above her shoulder, however still behind her. She walks back into the bathroom, grabbing a sponge from under the sink, and begins to clean up the muddy footprint on the floor. The camera angle is low close to the floor, as she bends over to clean up the mess. Once she is finished, she washes the mud out the sponge into the sink, leaving a trail of muddy water, there is a close up shot of the water washing down the drain. She then turns off the tap, and the muddy water swirls down the drain. The camera angle cuts to a side on view as she walks through the landing before going downstairs. As she walks past, down the corridor a devil some shadow of a boy is seen reflecting off the mirror at the end of the hall. However, she takes no notice of this. A piercing bang sounds as the boy appears, then suspenseful music begins to play As she walks downstairs, the angle cuts to the top of the landing, tracking her movement as she moves downstairs. A Childs Laughter plays As she begins to walk down the stairs the ghostly figure runs past behind her, giggling in a playful but creepy manor. She instantly turns around, confused as to what that noise was. She turns around and begins to walk back up the stairs to check what is there. There is a moments silence in music, before it carries on as she peers around each corner As she turns and looks around the corner and along the corridor, nothing is seen. With a confused and worried look on her face she turns around, pausing to take in what just happened. In a panic she rushes down stairs, afraid. As she rushes down the stairs, the boys hand begins to wrap round the edge of the wall behind her. But again, she takes no notice as she is already panicking from what she just experienced. The music begins to get louder and louder Smashing cords sound throughout the house as she leaps downstairs afraid for her life. The boy wakes up from his awful nightmare, screaming from his mum.
