ROAD TRIP REPORT: New Zealand

Nine days traveling. Three days for each place.

1. Auckland.
 It has the best climate in the country.
 It is a safe and multicultural city.
 Good job possibilities.

Schedule: Executives will depart from Bogotá at 10 am on December 2 and arrive in New
Zealand in Auckland at 4 pm on December 4.
2. Wellington
 Wide cultural and leisure offer.
 Reference center for the digital technology industry
 Wet weather with a lot of wind.

Schedule: Executives will leave Auckland at 5 p.m. on December 7 and arrive Wellington
at 1 a.m. on December 8.
3. Christchurch
 There is a lot of work on farms and under construction.
 Ease for residence.
 Temperate climate all year.

Schedule: Executives will depart from Wellington at 7 am on December 11 and will

arrive at Christchurch at 2 pm on December 15.

Participants

1. Mariana Hurtado (Manager)

Mariana was chosen for being cheerful, friendly and being a great leader. It is
planned that she will guide the team. However, it needs to be less temperamental and
bossy. She loves working in a team, but if she works at her own pace and with her
rules, she needs to learn to work with the ideas of others. Mariana was chosen
instead of Pablo because of the confidence she transmits to her classmates and how a
situation of high tension behaves.
Pablo, although not very happy, is very patient. However, it does not convey much
confidence.
 
2. Daniel Pinto (psychologist)
Daniel was chosen as an emotional support in case of internal conflicts in the group.
In the company when someone is wrong always find a way to get a smile. He is a
very friendly, patient person. Daniel was chosen instead of Carlos because Carlos
reported recent emotional problems that have affected his health.
 
3. Mauricio Prada (economist / analyst)
Mauricio is an expert in planning and analyzing any plan inside and outside the
company. Your greatest skill is to examine the level of risk in a plan. However, one
of its disadvantages is the bad mood and does not allow anyone to intervene in their
ideas. Mauricio was chosen instead of Karla because of the last mistake he made in
the company and caused him to lose a lot of money.
 
4. Camila Mora (IT expert)
She is an expert in solving problems and manages to obtain solutions in an effective
way. She is a creative, bold and agile woman. But he is not very companion and that
brings him problems with the team. Camila was chosen instead of Andrea due to the
disadvantage of knowledge of the language since Camila manages to speak two
languages more than Spanish which will give the team an advantage.

 Airplane
-Bogotá - Auckland. Taking into account that it is 36 hours of flight and must be
stopped.
-Christchurch - Bogotá. It takes approximately 36 hours and 20 minutes
  Car rental
-Auckland - Wellington takes approximately 11 hours and 10 minutes.
-Wellington - Christchurch. It takes about 9 hours.
 
Airplane ticket cost: 3,532.12 NZD
Car rental cost per day: $ 2006 NZ (9 days) / total cost: $ 18,054 NZ
Total estimated cost of gasoline: 2.31 NZ daily (9 days) / total cost: 20.79 NZ

 Train
-Auckland - Wellington Ticket cost $ 90.19 NZ. It takes 11 hours.
-Wellington - Christchurch Ticket cost $ 108.85 NZ. It takes about 8 hours

 Local transportation: $ 10 NZD

Total train cost: $ 38,844 NZ
Total cost of car rental: $ 199.09 ZD
 
Time comparison:
Total travel time by author: approximately 23 hours.
Total train travel time: approximately 20 hours.
 
Decision: car rental
Although the train is much cheaper and faster, the car allows them to go much more
comfortable and make the stops they want to know different places.

Gastronomy
Typical dishes.
 
• Auckland:
1. Hangi Maori: It consists of preparing meat or seafood with vegetables on a
barbecue made on the ground, cooking with the steam of very hot rocks.
2. Fish and chips: Frying fish and chips typical of the United Kingdom,
although it has become one of the most common fast food options in New
Zealand.
3. Lamb stew: It is cooked with seasoned lamb meat and fried quickly, which is
then presented with sauteed vegetables such as carrots. All with the
irresistible taste of a sauce of red wine and rosemary.
• Wellington:
1. Colonial Goose: The meat of the leg of lamb is boneless and cooked with
honey and dried fruits.
2. Whitebait Fritter: Refers to a kind of omelette made with small fish and
tomatoes.
3. Pavlova cake: Cake made from a meringue covered with whipped cream and
with different types of fresh fruits.
4. Hokey Pokey: Sweet caramel toffee type with a solid spongy-looking texture)
• Christchurch:
1. Lamingtons: Sponge cakes made with butter and presented in the form of
small cubes.
2. Afghan Biscuits: Cookies made from cocoa powder, butter, flour, cornflakes
and a chocolate topping.
3. Roasted Hogget: The second of the typical New Zealand dishes is a roast
made with baked lamb meat seasoned with herbs and accompanied by
potatoes, squash, sweet potatoes and vegetables, as well as a delicious mint
sauce.
 
In each destination the team will have the mission of finding where to taste the most
typical dishes of each region and must work in groups to meet the objective.

Excursions:
- Enjoy Wellington funicular: The ticket costs 5NZD per way and 9NZD if you buy
the round trip.
- Visit the National Museum of New Zealand: Te Papa Tongarewa.

CHRISTCHURCH
