Subject: Support to purchase air ticket to go South Korea

Sir,
With due respect, I beg to state that I am an active RCY at the National Headquarter of Bangladesh Red
Crescent Society. I’ve been a volunteer since May 2016. Before that, I was involved with RCY in Banani
Bidyaniketan School and College. I participated in many Red Crescent programs and activities since then. I
attended the International Youth Exchange Program Japan, Tokyo and represented my country and BDRCS
there. In 2019, I applied for The 18th International Red Cross Scholarship Program and got selected for a
scholarship of 6 months of Language Program and 4 years undergraduate program given by South Korean
Red Cross at Hanseo University. I attended the Korean language program from 9th September 2019 to 26th
February 2020 and then due to the Covid-19 outbreak I had to come back to Bangladesh on 27th February 2020.
My visa date was up to 10th September 2020. I was to return to Korea on 17th March 2020 that is 3 weeks after
I came to Bangladesh. But, I was informed by South Korean Immigration that my visa had been paused & the
Korean Embassy of Dhaka also obstructed their work due to the Covid-19 outbreak and I got stuck in
Bangladesh. After that, I was unable to continue my study at my university. Since March 2020 I again joined
NHQ RCY team and given service through the Covid-19 outbreak. I’m still working with the team. I am
currently studying International Relation and my minor is Disaster Management. I aim to serve BDRCS after
my graduation and build my career in related fields. I am still associated with the Red Cross Red Crescent
movement in my university in South Korea. Recently, Korean Embassy of Dhaka reopened my visa application
for Bangladeshi students and I applied for my visa renewal. Probably, I’ll get the visa in the last week of the
month. In previous times, those who got selected for the program got flight ticket purchase support from
BDRCS. But when the first time I went to South Korea, I carried my expenses including the flight ticket. In the
present situation, because of the pandemic, the expense of the flight reaches high and it became hard for me and
my family to bear the cost. I already dropped two semesters of my study for the outbreak. I may miss one more
semester if I can’t manage the expense for the flight. It will be a big opportunity if I get support from
Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and continue my study from the April session.
I, therefore, pray and hope that the honourable will grant my application and oblige thereby to support me in
purchasing the flight ticket to go to South Korea and continue my study.
