The Battle of the Hornburg

After being freed by Gandalf from Gríma Wormtongue's influence, Théoden went to the Fords of Isen
where Erkenbrand was battling Saruman's orcs. When Théoden got there, he realized that the army was
scattered, so Gandalf told Théoden to help the refugees and send them to the Hornburg where many
people from Westfold were also taking refuge. Soon Gandalf brought the Rohirrim to defend Helm's
Deep from Saruman's attacking forces. A local captain called Gamling the Old led the soldiers.
Unfortunately, according to Gamling, "The soldiers have seen either too many winters, or too few."

Layout

The Scenario is played on a 4x6 board with Helm’s Deep placed along the Long Edge. If there is extra
room between the Walls and the board Edges, then fill it with impassible terrain or declare it impassible.
The rest of the terrain is open field apart from a small stream that extends from the Deeping wall

Eomer must start in the Hornburg above the Gate. Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Haldir and 10 Galadhrim
bowmen deploy on or behind the Deeping Wall. The rest of the Good forces may start anywhere behind
the Hornburg. The Isengard Siege Bombs MUST start 24” away from the wall.

Objectives
This game lasts 10 turns. The Evil side wins if they can kill all the Good Heroes or if they control both the
Hornburg and the Deeping Wall at the end of any turn. To declare control, the Evil side needs at least 3x
the amount of models on or behind that section as the good player. The Good Player wins if the Evil
player accomplishes none of his objectives by the end of the 10th turn (at which point Erkenbrand’s
cavalry arrive and rout the Isengard invaders!).

Special Rules

For the King! All Rohan units count as being in range of a banner as long as they are within 3” of
Theoden. Additionally, they cannot break while he is alive.

Honor the Old Alliance. All Elves count as within range of a banner if they are within 3” of Aragorn.
Additionally, they cannot break while Aragorn is alive.

19!, 20!, 21!. Throughout the game, Gimli and Legolas are in a competition with each other. Throughout
the game, tally the amount of kills each one makes. For every three kills one makes, the other tries
harder to catch up and gains a free point of might that may be used until the end of the next turn. (So if
Gimli gets to three kills, Legolas gains a point of might, and vice-versa). At the end of the game,
whomever has the most kills has bragging rights for the rest of the day.

The Fighting Uruk Hai! The Isengard Force are without number and cannot be broken. When any Isengard model
dies, it may reenter the fight the following movement phase from the far board edge.
