1. Reflection Essay

“The Saber-Tooth Curriculum”

By : J. Abner Peddiwell

Provide better food, shelter, clothing, and having a security of living. These

primary needs are addressed by a great man of Chellean times whose full name was

New-Fist-Hammer-Maker. In this story, New Fist emphasize the beauty of systematic

education. He made a curriculum provided with a clear mission, vision, goal, and

objective in order for his tribe to survived for any circumstances that probably destroy

their life. They’re being taught by different skills for survival which is the objective of the

three core subjects such as Fish-Grabbing, Horse-Clubbing, and Tiger-Scaring. Based

on the story, I see New Fist as an innovator and I started asking myself right now as a

future teacher, Am I ready to become New Fist? Am I fully equipped to apply the Saber-

Tooth Curriculum?

The story is not only concern on what should I applied in a school setting, but

rather made me internalized the process on how my students should appreciate their

learnings. That my students should understand that they need to live heartedly each

thing they are learning every day. And as an effective teacher, I should have a

timelessness curriculum same with New Fist in order for me to addressed the cultural

diversity in every learning process.
