3:1 ‫אֲנִ י‬ ‫ֶבר‬

ֶ ‫ַהּג‬ ‫ָראָ ה‬ ‫עֳנִ י‬ ‫ְּבׁשֵ ֶבט‬ ‫עֶ ְב ָרת‬ :

. I [am] the man [that]

3:2 ‫אתי‬
ִ ‫ָהג‬
ַ ‫נ‬  ַ‫וַּיֹ ל‬  ֶ‫חֹׁש‬ ‫ְול ֹא‬ ‫אר ־‬ :

He hath led me, and
auth·i neg u·ilk chshk u·la - aur : brought [me into] darkness,
»·me he-leads and·he-is-cmaking-go darkness and·not light but not [into] light.

3:3  ַ‫א‬ ‫ִּבי‬ ‫יָׁשֻ ב‬ ֹ‫הפ‬

ֲ ‫ַי‬ ‫יָד‬ ‫ּכָ ל‬ ‫ַהּים ־‬ : ‫ס‬

Surely against me is he
ak b·i ishb iephk id·u kl - e·ium : s turned; he turneth his hand
yea in·me he-is-returning he-is-turning hand-of·him all-of the·day [against me] all the day.

3:4 ‫ִּבּלָ ה‬ ‫ְבׂשָ ִרי‬ ‫ערי‬

ִ ‫ְו‬ ‫ִׁש ַּבר‬ ‫מתי‬
ָ ‫עַ ְצ‬ :

My flesh and my skin hath
ble bshr·i u·our·i shbr otzmuth·i : he made old; he hath broken
he-mwears-out flesh-of·me and·skin-of·me he-mbreaks bones-of·me my bones.

3:5 ‫ּבנָה‬
ָ ‫עָ לַ י‬ ‫ַוּי ַַּקף‬ ‫ר ֹאׁש‬ ‫ּותלָ אָ ה‬
ְ :

He hath builded against
bne ol·i u·iqph rash u·thlae : me, and compassed [me]
he-builds on·me and·he-is-cencompassing poison and·tiredness with gall and travail.

3:6 ‫מחֲׁשַ ִּכים‬

ַ ‫ְּב‬ ‫יבנִ י‬
ַ ‫הׁש‬
ִ ‫ְּכ ֵמ ֵתי‬ ‫ עלָ ם‬: ‫ס‬

He hath set me in dark

3:7 ‫ּג ַָדר‬ ‫ַּבע ֲִדי‬ ‫ְול ֹא‬ ‫אֵ צֵ א‬ ‫ִה ְכ ִּביד‬ ‫נְ ָח ְׁש ִּתי‬ :

He hath hedged me about,

he-dikes about·me and·not I-shall-go-forth he-cmakes-heavy copper-gyves-of·me made my chain heavy.

3:8 ‫ּגַם‬ ‫ִּכי‬ ‫אֶ זְ עַ ק‬ ‫ַואֲׁשַ ּו ֵַע‬ ‫ׂשָ ַתם‬ ‫ְּת ִפּלָ ִתי‬ :

Also when I cry and
gm ki azoq u·ashuo shthm thphlth·i : shout, he shutteth out my
even that I-am-crying-out and·I-am-mimploring he-obstructs prayer-of·me prayer.

3:9 ‫ּג ַָדר‬ ‫ְּד ָרכַ י‬ ‫ְּבגָזִ ית‬ ‫ֹתי‬

ַ ‫נְ ִתיב‬ ‫ִעּוָה‬ : ‫ס‬

He hath inclosed my ways
gdr drk·i b·gzith nthibth·i oue : s with hewn stone, he hath
he-dikes ways-of·me in·trimmed-stone tracks-of·me he-mcontorts made my paths crooked.

He [was] unto me [as] a

bear ambushing he to·me lion lion in·concealments a lion in secret places.

3:11 ‫ְּד ָרכַ י‬ ‫סרר‬

ֵ ‫וַיְ פַ ְּׁש ֵחנִ י‬ ‫ׂשָ ַמנִ י‬ ‫ׁש ֵמם‬

He hath turned aside my

desolate.
3:12 ‫ָּד ַר‬ ‫ַק ְׁשּת‬ ‫יבנִ י‬
ֵ ‫ַוּי ִַּצ‬ ‫ּכַ ַּמּטָ ָרא‬ ‫לַ ֵחץ‬ : ‫ס‬

He hath bent his bow,
drk qshth·u u·itzib·ni k·mtra l·chtz : s and set me as a mark for the

3:13 ‫ה ִביא‬
ֵ ‫יתי‬
ָ ‫ְּב ִכ ְל‬ ‫ְּבנֵי‬ ‫אַ ְׁשּפָ ת‬ :

He hath caused the

he-cinserts in·kidneys-of·me sons-of quiver-of·him into my reins.

3:14 ‫יתי‬
ִ ִ‫ָהי‬ ‫ְּׂשחֹק‬ ‫ְלכָ ל‬ ‫עַ ִּמי ־‬ ‫נְ גִ ינ ָָתם‬ ‫ּכָ ל‬ ‫ַהּים ־‬ :

I was a derision to all my

3:15 ‫ׂש ִּביעַ נִ י‬

ִ ‫ַב ְּמ‬ ‫ִה ְרוַנִ י‬ ‫ענָה‬
ֲ ַ‫ל‬ : ‫ס‬

He hath filled me with

3:16 ‫ַוּיַגְ ֵרס‬ ‫ֶּב ָחצָ ץ‬ ‫ִׁשּנָי‬ ‫ִה ְכ ִּפיׁשַ נִ י‬ ‫ָּבאֵ פֶ ר‬ :

He hath also broken my

and·he-is-ccrunching in·the·gravel teeth-of·me he-cregales·me in·the·ash hath covered me with ashes.

3:17 ‫ַּתזְ נַח‬

ִ ‫ו‬ ‫ִמּׁשָ לם‬ ‫נ ְַפ ִׁשי‬ ‫יתי‬
ִ ‫נ ִָׁש‬ ‫טבה‬
ָ :

And thou hast removed
u·thznch m·shlum nphsh·i nshithi tube : my soul far off from peace:
and·she-is-being-cast-off from·peace soul-of·me I-am-oblivious goodness I forgat prosperity.

3:18 ‫מר‬
ַ ‫א‬
ֹ ‫ָו‬ ‫אָ ַבד‬ ‫נִ ְצ ִחי‬ ‫תח ְל ִּתי‬
ַ ‫ְו‬ ‫ֵמיְ הוָה‬ : ‫ס‬

And I said, My strength

and·I-am-saying he-perished permanence-of·me and·hope-of·me from·Yahweh from the LORD:

3:19 ‫זְ כָ ר‬ ‫עָ נְ יִ י ־‬ ‫רּודי‬

ִ ‫ּומ‬
ְ ‫ענָה‬
ֲ ַ‫ל‬ ‫וָר ֹאׁש‬ :

Remembering mine
zkr - oni·i u·mrud·i lone u·rash : affliction and my misery,
remember-you ! humiliation-of·me and·declension-of·me wormwood and·poison the wormwood and the gall.

ַ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫ִּכי‬ ‫ָת ְמנּו ־ ל ֹא‬ ‫ִּכי‬ ‫כָ לּו ־ ל ֹא‬

[It is of] the LORD'S
chsdi ieue ki la - thmnu ki la - klu mercies that we are not
kindnesses-of Yahweh that not we-came-to-end that not they-are-finished consumed, because his
compassions fail not.

3:24 ‫ח ְל ִקי‬
ֶ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫אָ ְמ ָרה‬ ‫נ ְַפ ִׁשי‬ ‫אחיל עַ ל־ּכֵ ן‬
ִ ‫ל‬ : ‫ס‬

The LORD [is] my
chlq·i ieue amre nphsh·i ol-kn auchil l·u : s portion, saith my soul;
portion-of·me Yahweh she-says soul-of·me on·so I-shall-chope for·him therefore will I hope in him.

3:25 ‫טב‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫קוָו‬

ֹ ‫ְל‬ ‫ְלנֶפֶ ׁש‬ ‫ִּת ְד ְרׁשֶ ּנּו‬ :

The LORD [is] good
tub ieue l·qu·u l·nphsh thdrsh·nu : unto them that wait for him,
good-one Yahweh to·one-expecting-of·him to·soul she-is-inquiring·him to the soul [that] seeketh
him.
3:26 ‫טב‬ ‫ְוי ִָחיל‬ ‫דּומם‬
ָ ‫ְו‬ ‫ִל ְתׁשּועַ ת‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ :

[It is] good that [a man]
tub u·ichil u·dumm l·thshuoth ieue : should both hope and
good-one and·waiting-one and·still for·salvation-of Yahweh quietly wait for the
salvation of the LORD.
3:27 ‫טב‬ ‫ֶבר‬
ֶ ‫לַ ּג‬ ‫ִּכי‬ ‫יִ ּׂשָ א ־‬ ‫עֹ ל‬ ‫עּוריו‬
ָ ְ‫ִּבנ‬ : ‫ס‬

[It is] good for a man
tub l·gbr ki - isha ol b·nouri·u : s that he bear the yoke in his
good-one for·the·master that he-is-bearing yoke in·youths-of·him youth.

3:28 ‫יֵׁשֵ ב‬ ‫ָּב ָדד‬ ‫ְויִ ּדֹם‬ ‫ִּכי‬ ‫נָטַ ל‬ ‫עָ לָ יו‬ :

He sitteth alone and
ishb bdd u·idm ki ntl oli·u : keepeth silence, because he
he-shall-sit alone and·he-shall-be-silent that he-transports on·him hath borne [it] upon him.

3:29 ‫ּתן‬
ֵ ִ‫י‬ ‫ֶּבעָ פָ ר‬ ‫ִּפיהּו‬ ‫אּולַ י‬ ‫יֵׁש‬ ‫ִּת ְקוָה‬ :

He putteth his mouth in
ithn b·ophr phi·eu auli ish thque : the dust; if so be there may
he-shall-give in·the·soil mouth-of·him perhaps there-is expectation be hope.

3:30 ‫ּתן‬
ֵ ִ‫י‬ ‫ְל ַמּכֵ הּו‬ ‫לֶ ִחי‬ ‫יִ ְׂש ַּבע‬ ‫ְּב ֶח ְרּפָ ה‬ : ‫ס‬

He giveth [his] cheek to
ithn l·mk·eu lchi ishbo b·chrphe : s him that smiteth him: he is
he-shall-give to·one-csmiting-of·him cheek he-shall-be-surfeited in·reproach filled full with reproach.

3:31 ‫ִּכי‬ ‫ל ֹא‬ ‫יִ זְ נַח‬ ‫ְלעלָ ם‬ ‫דנָי‬

For the Lord will not cast

But though he cause

For he doth not afflict

To subvert a man in his

Out of the mouth of the

Wherefore doth a living

ְ ‫נ‬ ‫ְד ָרכֵ ינּו‬ ‫ְונ ְַחק ָֹרה‬ ‫ָׁשּובה‬
ָ ‫ְונ‬ ‫עַ ד‬ ‫יְ הוָה ־‬ :

Let us search and try our

we-shall-search ways-of·us and·we-shall-investigate and·we-shall-return unto Yahweh LORD.

3:41 ‫נִ ּׂשָ א‬ ‫ְל ָב ֵבנּו‬ ‫ּכַ ּפָ יִ ם ־ אֶ ל‬ ‫ַּבּׁשָ ָמיִ ם אֵ ל ־ אֶ ל‬ :

Let us lift up our heart
nsha lbb·nu al - kphim al - al b·shmim : with [our] hands unto God
we-shall-lift-up heart-of·us to palms to El in·the·heavens in the heavens.

3:42 ‫ַחנּו‬
ְ ‫נ‬ ‫פָ ׁשַ ְענּו‬ ‫ּומ ִרינּו‬
ָ ‫ל ֹא אַ ָּתה‬ ‫ָסלָ ְח ָּת‬ : ‫ס‬

. We have transgressed
nchnu phshonu u·mrinu athe la slchth : s and have rebelled: thou hast
we we-transgressed and·we-rebelled you not you-pardoned not pardoned.

3:43 ‫ֹתה‬
ָ ‫ַסּכ‬ ‫ָבאַ ף‬ ‫ו ִַּת ְר ְּדפֵ נּו‬ ‫ָה ַרגְ ָּת‬ ‫ל ֹא‬ ‫ָח ָמ ְל ָּת‬ :

Thou hast covered with
skthe b·aph u·thrdph·nu ergth la chmlth : anger, and persecuted us:
you-overshadowed in·the·anger and·you-are-pursuing·us you-killed not you-spared thou hast slain, thou hast
not pitied.
3:44 ‫ּכתה‬
ָ ‫ַס‬ ‫ֶבעָ נָן‬  ָ‫ל‬ ‫ֵמעֲבר‬ ‫ ְּת ִפּלָ ה‬:

Thou hast covered
skuthe b·onn l·k m·obur thphle : thyself with a cloud, that
you-overshadowed in·the·cloud to·you from·to-pass-of prayer [our] prayer should not pass
through.
3:45 ‫ְס ִחי‬ ‫ּומאס‬
ָ ‫ימנּו‬
ֵ ‫ְּת ִׂש‬ ‫ְּב ֶק ֶרב‬ ‫ָהעַ ִּמים‬ : ‫ס‬

Thou hast made us [as]
schi u·maus thshim·nu b·qrb e·omim : s the offscouring and refuse
offscouring and·rejection you-are-placing·us in·within-of the·peoples in the midst of the people.

3:46 ‫ּפָ צּו‬ ‫עָ לֵ ינּו‬ ‫יהם‬

ֶ ‫ִּפ‬ ‫ּכָ ל‬ ‫איְ ֵבינּו ־‬

All our enemies have
phtzu oli·nu phi·em kl - aibi·nu : opened their mouths against
they-open-wide on·us mouth-of·them all-of ones-being-enemies-of·us us.

3:47 ‫חד‬
ַ ַ‫ּפ‬ ‫וָפַ ַחת‬ ‫ָהיָה‬ ‫לָ נּו‬ ‫ַהּׁשֵ את‬ ‫ְו ַהּׁשָ ֶבר‬ :

Fear and a snare is come
phchd u·phchth eie l·nu e·shath u·e·shbr : upon us, desolation and
afraidness and·pitfall he-becomes to·us the·tumult and·the·breaking destruction.

3:48 ‫ּפַ ְלגֵי‬ ‫ַמיִ ם ־‬ ‫ֵּת ַרד‬ ‫עֵ ינִ י‬ ‫ׁשֶ ֶבר ־ עַ ל‬ ‫ַּבת‬ ‫־‬

Mine eye runneth down
phlgi - mim thrd oin·i ol - shbr bth - with rivers of water for the
rillets-of waters she-is-running-down eye-of·me on breaking-of daughter-of destruction of the daughter
of my people.

3:49 ‫עֵ ינִ י‬ ‫נִ ּגְ ָרה‬ ‫ְול ֹא‬ ‫ִת ְד ֶמה‬ ‫ֵמאֵ ין‬ ‫הֲפֻ גת‬ :

Mine eye trickleth down,
oin·i ngre u·la thdme m·ain ephguth : and ceaseth not, without
eye-of·me she-nspills and·not she-is-being-stilled from·there-is-no intermissions any intermission,

3:50 ‫עַ ד‬ ‫י ְַׁש ִקיף ־‬ ‫ְוי ֵֶרא‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫ִמּׁשָ ָמיִ ם‬ :

Till the LORD look
od - ishqiph u·ira ieue m·shmim : down, and behold from
until he-cgazes-down and·he-is-seeing Yahweh from·heavens heaven.

3:51 ‫עֵ ינִ י‬ ‫עללָ ה‬

ְ ‫ְלנ ְַפ ִׁשי‬ ‫ִמּכֹל‬ ‫ְּבנת‬ ‫ירי‬
ִ ‫ִע‬ : ‫ס‬

Mine eye affecteth mine
oin·i oulle l·nphsh·i m·kl bnuth oir·i : s heart because of all the
eye-of·me she-mabuses to·soul-of·me from·all-of daughters-of city-of·me daughters of my city.

3:52 ‫צד‬ ‫צָ דּונִ י‬ ‫ּכַ ִּצּפר‬ ‫איְ ַבי‬

ֹ ‫ִחּנָם‬ :

Mine enemies chased me
tzud tzdu·ni k·tzphur aib·i chnm : sore, like a bird, without
to-hunt they-hunt·me as·the·bird ones-being-enemies-of·me gratuitously cause.

3:53 ‫צָ ְמתּו‬ ‫ַבּבר‬ ‫ַחּיָי‬ ‫ַוּיַּדּו‬ ‫אֶ ֶבן ־‬ ‫ִּבי‬ :

They have cut off my life
tzmthu b·bur chi·i u·idu - abn b·i : in the dungeon, and cast a
they-efface in·the·cistern lives-of·me and·they-are-mhandling stone in·me stone upon me.

Behold their sitting
shbth·m u·qimth·m ebit·e ani mnginth·m : s down, and their rising up; I
sitting-of·them and·rising-of·them clook-you ! I accompaniment-of·them [am] their musick.

ִ ‫ָּת‬ ‫לָ ֶהם‬ ‫ּגְ מּול‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫ְּכ ַמעֲׂשֵ ה‬ ‫יהם‬

Render unto them a
thshib l·em gmul ieue k·moshe idi·em : recompence, O LORD,
you-shall-cturn-back to·them requital Yahweh as·deed-of hands-of·them according to the work of
their hands.
