Isaiah 6

6:1 ‫ׁשנַת‬
ְ ‫ִּב‬ ‫מ ת ־‬  ֶ‫ַה ֶּמל‬ ‫עֻ ּזִ ּיָהּו‬ ‫וָאֶ ְראֶ ה‬ ‫דנָי ־ אֶ ת‬
ֹ ‫א‬
ֲ ‫יֹׁשֵ ב‬ ‫ִּכ ֵּסא ־ עַ ל‬
1
. In the year that king
b·shnth - muth e·mlk ozieu u·arae ath - adni ishb ol - ksa Uzziah died I saw also the
in·year-of death-of the·king Uzziah and·I-am-seeing » my-Lord sitting on throne Lord sitting upon a throne,
high and lifted up, and his
‫ָרם‬ ‫ְונִ ּׂשָ א‬ ‫ְוׁשּולָ יו‬ ‫ְמלֵ ִאים‬ ‫ַה ֵהיכָ ל ־ אֶ ת‬ : train filled the temple.

6:2 ‫ׂש ָר ִפים‬

ְ ‫עֹ ְמ ִדים‬ ‫ִמ ַּמעַ ל‬ ‫ל‬ ‫ׁשֵ ׁש‬ ‫ְּכנָפַ יִ ם‬ ‫ׁשֵ ׁש‬ ‫ְּכנָפַ יִ ם‬ ‫ְלאֶ ָחד‬ ‫ִּב ְׁש ַּתיִ ם‬

Above it stood the
shrphim omdim m·mol l·u shsh knphim shsh knphim l·achd b·shthim seraphims: each one had six
seraphim ones-standing from·above to·him six wings six wings to·one in·two wings; with twain he
covered his face, and with
‫יְ כַ ֶּסה‬ ‫פָ נָיו‬ ‫ּוב ְׁש ַּתיִ ם‬
ִ ‫יְ כַ ֶּסה‬ ‫ַרגְ לָ יו‬ ‫ּוב ְׁש ַּתיִ ם‬
ִ ‫יְ ע פֵ ף‬ : twain he covered his feet,
and with twain he did fly.

he-is-mcovering faces-of·him and·in·two he-is-mcovering feet-of·him and·in·two he-is-mflying

6:3 ‫ְו ָק ָרא‬ ‫זֶה‬ ‫זֶה ־ אֶ ל‬ ‫ְואָ ַמר‬ ‫ָקד ׁש‬ ‫ָקד ׁש‬ ‫ָקד ׁש‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬

And one cried unto
u·qra ze al - ze u·amr qdush qdush qdush ieue another, and said, Holy,
and·he-called this-one to this-one and·he-said holy-one holy-one holy-one Yahweh-of holy, holy, [is] the LORD of
hosts: the whole earth [is]
‫ְצ ָבא ת‬ ‫ְמל ֹא‬ ‫כָ ל‬ ‫ָהאָ ֶרץ ־‬ ‫ְּכב ד‬ : full of his glory.

hosts fullness-of all-of the·earth glory-of·him

6:4 ‫ַו ָּינֻעּו‬ ‫אַ ּמ ת‬ ‫ַה ִּס ִּפים‬ ‫ִמּק ל‬ ‫ּק רא‬
ֵ ‫ַה‬ ‫ְו ַה ַּביִ ת‬

And the posts of the door
u·inou amuth e·sphim m·qul e·qura u·e·bith moved at the voice of him
and·they-are-swaying cubits-of the·thresholds from·sound-of the·one-calling and·the·house that cried, and the house
was filled with smoke.
‫יִ ָּמלֵ א‬ ‫עָ ׁשָ ן‬ :

he-is-being-filled smoke

6:5 ‫מר‬
ַ ‫א‬
ֹ ‫ָו‬ ‫א י‬ ‫ִלי ־‬ ‫ִכי‬ ‫יתי ־‬
ִ ‫נִ ְד ֵמ‬ ‫ִּכי‬ ‫ִאיׁש‬ ‫ְט ֵמא‬ ‫ְׂשפָ ַתיִ ם ־‬ ‫אָ נ ִֹכי‬
5
. Then said I, Woe [is]
u·amr aui - l·i ki - ndmithi ki aish tma - shphthim anki me! for I am undone;
and·I-am-saying woe ! to·me that I-am-stilled that man unclean-of lips I because I [am] a man of
unclean lips, and I dwell in
 ‫ּובת‬
ְ ‫עַ ם‬ ‫ְט ֵמא ־‬ ‫ְׂשפָ ַתיִ ם‬ ‫אָ נ ִֹכי‬ ‫י ׁשֵ ב‬ ‫ִּכי‬ ‫ַה ֶּמלֶ  ־ אֶ ת‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫ְצ ָבא ת‬ the midst of a people of
unclean lips: for mine eyes
u·b·thuk om - tma shphthim anki iushb ki ath - e·mlk ieue tzbauth
have seen the King, the
and·in·midst-of people unclean-of lips I dwelling that » the·king Yahweh-of hosts
LORD of hosts.
‫ָראּו‬ ‫עֵ ינָי‬ :

6:6 ‫ַוּיָעָ ף‬ ‫אֵ לַ י‬ ‫ִמן אֶ ָחד‬ ‫ַה ְּׂש ָר ִפים ־‬ ‫ּוביָד‬

ְ ‫ִר ְצּפָ ה‬ ‫ְּב ֶמ ְל ַק ַחיִ ם‬

Then flew one of the
u·ioph al·i achd mn - e·shrphim u·b·id·u rtzphe b·mlqchim seraphims unto me, having
and·he-is-flying to·me one from the·seraphim and·in·hand-of·him pavement in·snuffers a live coal in his hand,
[which] he had taken with
‫לָ ַקח‬ ‫ֵמעַ ל‬ ‫ַה ִּמזְ ֵּב ַח‬ : the tongs from off the altar:

6:7 ‫ַו ַּיּגַע‬ ‫ִּפי ־ עַ ל‬ ‫ֹאמר‬

ֶ ‫וַּי‬ ‫ִהּנֵה‬ ‫ָנגַע‬ ‫זֶה‬ ‫־ עַ ל‬

And he laid [it] upon my
u·igo ol - ph·i u·iamr ene ngo ze ol - mouth, and said, Lo, this
and·he-is-ctouching on mouth-of·me and·he-is-saying behold ! he-touched this on hath touched thy lips; and
thine iniquity is taken away,
5‫ְׂשפָ ֶתי‬ ‫ְו ָסר‬ 5ֶ‫עֲ נ‬ 5‫את‬
ְ ָ‫ְו ַחּט‬ and thy sin purged.

ֹ ‫ִמי ־ אֶ ת‬ ‫אֶ ְׁשלַ ח‬ ‫ּומי‬

Also I heard the voice of
u·ashmo ath - qul adni amr ath - mi ashlch u·mi the Lord, saying, Whom
and·I-am-hearing » voice-of my-Lord saying » whom ? I-shall-send and·who ? shall I send, and who will
go for us? Then said I, Here
 ֶ‫יֵל‬ ‫לָ נּו ־‬ ‫א ַמר‬
ֹ ‫ָו‬ ‫ִהנְ נִ י‬ ‫ְׁשלָ ֵחנִ י‬ : [am] I; send me.

he-shall-go for·us and·I-am-saying behold·me ! send-you·me !

6:9 ‫ֹאמר‬
ֶ ‫וַּי‬  ֵ‫ל‬ ‫ְואָ ַמ ְר ָּת‬ ‫לָ עָ ם‬ ‫ַהּזֶה‬ ‫ִׁש ְמעּו‬ ‫מ ע‬
ַ ָ‫ׁש‬

. And he said, Go, and tell
u·iamr lk u·amrth l·om e·ze shmou shmuo this people, Hear ye indeed,
and·he-is-saying go-you ! and·you-say to·the·people the·this hear-you(p) ! to-hear but understand not; and see
ye indeed, but perceive not.
‫ְואַ ל‬ ‫ָּת ִבינּו ־‬ ‫ּוראּו‬
ְ ‫ָרא‬ ‫ְואַ ל‬ ‫־‬
u·al - thbinu u·rau rau u·al -
and·must-not-be you(p)-are-understanding and·see-you(p) ! to-see and·must-not-be

ֵ ‫ַה ְׁש‬ ‫לֵ ב‬ ‫ָהעָ ם ־‬ ‫ַהּזֶה‬ ‫ְואָ זְ נָיו‬ ‫ַה ְכ ֵּבד‬

Make the heart of this
eshmn lb - e·om e·ze u·azni·u ekbd people fat, and make their
cstouten-you ! heart-of the·people the·this and·ears-of·him cmake-heavy-you ! ears heavy, and shut their
eyes; lest they see with their
‫ְועֵ ינָיו‬ ‫ָהׁשַ ע‬ ‫ּפֶ ן‬ ‫יִ ְראֶ ה ־‬ ‫ְבעֵ ינָיו‬ ‫ּובאָ זְ נָיו‬
ְ eyes, and hear with their
ears, and understand with
u·oini·u esho phn - irae b·oini·u u·b·azni·u
their heart, and convert, and
and·eyes-of·him cmake-squint-you ! lest he-is-seeing in·eyes-of·him and·in·ears-of·him
be healed.
‫יִ ְׁש ָמע‬ ‫ּול ָבב‬
ְ ‫י ִָבין‬ ‫וָׁשָ ב‬ ‫ְו ָרפָ א‬
ishmo u·lbb·u ibin u·shb u·rpha
he-is-hearing and·heart-of·him he-is-understanding and·he-turns-back and·he-gets-healing

6:11 ‫מר‬
ַ ‫א‬
ֹ ‫ָו‬ ‫עַ ד‬ ‫ָמ ַתי ־‬ ‫דנָי‬
ֹ ‫א‬
ֲ ‫ֹאמר‬
ֶ ‫וַּי‬ ‫עַ ד‬ ‫אֲׁשֶ ר‬ ‫ׁשָ אּו ־ ִאם‬

Then said I, Lord, how
u·amr od - mthi adni u·iamr od ashr am - shau long? And he answered,
and·I-am-saying until when ? my-Lord and·he-is-saying until which if they-are-decimated Until the cities be wasted
without inhabitant, and the
‫עָ ִרים‬ ‫ֵמאֵ ין‬ ‫י ׁשֵ ב‬ ‫ּוב ִּתים‬
ָ ‫ֵמאֵ ין‬ ‫אָ ָדם‬ ‫ְו ָהא ֲָד ָמה‬ houses without man, and the
land be utterly desolate,
orim m·ain iushb u·bthim m·ain adm u·e·adme
cities from·there-is-no one-dwelling and·houses from·there-is-no human and·the·ground

‫ִּתּׁשָ אֶ ה‬ ‫ְׁש ָמ ָמה‬ :

6:12 ‫חק‬
ַ ‫ְו ִר‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫ָהאָ ָדם ־ אֶ ת‬ ‫ְו ַר ָּבה‬ ‫ֲזּובה‬
ָ ‫ָהע‬ ‫ְּב ֶק ֶרב‬

And the LORD have
u·rchq ieue ath - e·adm u·rbe e·ozube b·qrb removed men far away, and
and·he-mremoves-afar Yahweh » the·human and·she-is-vast the·forsaken-place in·within-of [there be] a great forsaking
in the midst of the land.
‫ָהאָ ֶרץ‬ :

6:13 ‫ְוע ד‬ ‫ָּבּה‬ ‫ֲׂש ִרּיָה‬

ִ ‫ְוׁשָ ָבה ע‬ ‫ְו ָהיְ ָתה‬ ‫ְל ָבעֵ ר‬

But yet in it [shall be] a
u·oud b·e oshrie u·shbe u·eithe l·bor tenth, and [it] shall return,
and·still in·her tenth and·she-turns-away and·she-becomes to·to-mconsume-of and shall be eaten: as a teil
tree, and as an oak, whose
‫ּכָ אֵ לָ ה‬ ‫ְוכָ אַ ּל ן‬ ‫אֲׁשֶ ר‬ ‫ְּבׁשַ ּלֶ כֶ ת‬ ‫ַמּצֶ ֶבת‬ ‫ָּבם‬ ‫ז ֶַרע‬ ‫ק ֶֹדׁש‬ substance [is] in them,
when they cast [their leaves:
k·ale u·k·alun ashr b·shlkth mtzbth b·m zro qdsh
so] the holy seed [shall be]
as·the·terebinth and·as·the·oak which in·fling monument in·them seed-of holiness
the substance thereof.
