Among the Indigenous communities in the Philippines, choose one: Describe their way of life

and the impact of modern technology to them.


Igorots are indigenous tribe from Cordillera. They are independent mountain tribes that greatly
resisted invaders. They are war-like people who are greatly feared by their enemies. They are
known of their skills as hunters since they are part of highlanders. The westernized cultures
didn’t penetrate pm the, easy for they have their own culture and tradition. We, the citizens
responded to rapidly changing society so are the next generation of the Igorot people. Keeping
up with the modernization means some of their practices weren’t performed nowadays unless
the presence of the elders of the tribe. Being part of a globalized economic system has benefits
to offer too often destroys their land and culture. The impact of modern technology is that some
of them were able to live and adapt to a normal life. They were able to embrace what the want.
For some, it helped them improved their life.
Aetas particularly have simple way of living only benefiting from what nature could offer. They
built temporary shelters made from sticks and bamboos driven to the ground and covered with
palm of bananas and coconut leaves. They practiced hunting and gathering also are skilled in
jungle survival.
Modern technology has changed their way of living and has helped them become motivated.
Recently, there was an Aeta candidate who joined a prestigious pageant and was featured in
MMK. She was an example of how technology influenced their community. They expanded their
knowledge and skills from food, clothes, tools, and the like. Because of modernization, they live
in cemented house, buy food like others, uses technologies, and have installed water system
and electricity. They also have paid attention to the importance of education.
The Mangyan of Mindoro are the largest existing tribe in the Philippines. They practice ancient
hunting and animalist religious views and ten percent have been converted to Christianity.
Mangyan’s survive by trailing their farms and selling various crops from coconuts to vegetables.
They have embraced the value of education and their barangays has an impact on modern
technology.
Badjao tribe are also known as “Sea gypsies” of the Sulu and Celebes seas. They’re living on
house boats where they make their livelihood. They are expert in fishing and also a deep-sea
divers. Nowadays, some of the Badjao wear normal clothes like other normal people instead of
wearing patadjong. They also learned to use gadgets.
