The history of art is as old as the history of human from the
prehistoric to the present times. Early paintings of the cavemen to
Da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa” in the early 20th century are both in the
form of visual arts that challenge our creative minds and inspire us
to witness the beauty of man’s creative skills.

 Brief History of Arts

Art history or Art Historiography is the historical study of the visual arts which aims to
identify, classify, describe, evaluate, interpret, and understand the art products and
historical progress of painting, sculpture, architecture, drawing, including the modern
day printmaking, decorative arts, photography, interior designs and etc. The two
primary concerns of this is one, to discover who made the particular art piece or
object; and two is to understand techniques and format developments of artistic
traditions in a greater measure and within a broad historical perspective.

Basically, it involves the identification and analysis of the various artistic styles, time
periods, movements, and schools of the past.

 Nature, Functions, and Philosophy of Arts

PHILISOPHY OF ART
Art’s philosophy is contained in its nature which includes concepts that
embody its interpretation, representation and expression, and form. It is
likewise strictly related to the study of beauty and taste, which is aesthetics.
The philosophy of art is differentiated from art criticism that focuses on the
analysis and evaluation of a particular artwork. The philosophy in art can be
seen through the analysis of a particular art piece, the use of tools and
mediums is lifted and separated from the whole composition and the meaning
is explained according to the artists personal concept and his source of
inspirations.

THE PHILISOPHY OF ART OF BEAUTY AND ART OF AESTHETIC

Philosophy of art is also tells the viewers the difference between beauty
and aesthetics. Art of beauty is not pertaining to the cosmetic
appearance of an art but rather measure the viewer’s effect on
emotional understanding in the firsthand perception of the artwork. Art
of aesthetic on the other hand refers to a more philosophical totality of
the art piece, meaning the inclusion of all its physical, mental and
emotional components are analyzed and understand from the standpoint
of the artist.
