B. Arrange the following tasks in setting-up computer server from start to


end

• IP addressing server pc
• Change computer name to server

C. Create your own step by step guide in setting-up computer server.
Write down below the list of instructions on how will you perform
every tasks in installing and configuration of windows server
2008.

1. IP addressing server pc
a) Open Network and Sharing Center
b) Open Local Area Connection Properties
c) Disable IPv6 Address

d) Assign IPv4 Address

f) Click OK and close all windows
2. Change computer name to server
a.) Access the Computer Properties

b.) Click the Change Settings and then click the computer name tab then click change
c.) Change the computer name to LOYOLAFAM

D.) Then it will pop out said “You may restart your computer to apply
changes”

3.) Install and configure ADDS

• Open the server manager then click roles


• Add roles
• Find the active directory domain system

• Click next until the installation progress

• Close the manager


a.) Set up active directory
-Click Start then search and click dcpromo.exe

-Click next until choose a deployment configuration


-Then create a new domain in a new forest
-click next then click continue installation

- We’re going to create password for domain administrator account


-you can use the administrator password to avoid confusion
- Click the reboot on completion then wait until reboot
4. Configure DNS
a.) Click start> administrative tools>DNS

b.) On DNS expand server by clicking the plus button

c.) Right click on the reverse look up zone> then click the new zone

d.) Then Next until reverse lookup zone name


e.) Then type the network id
f.) Click the reverse lookup zone name

g.) Click next and then finish

h.) The next double click the new reverse lookup zone

i.) Then right click and create new ptr

j.) Edit the correct Host IP Address and Host Name of the DNS Server
k.) Click ok
l.) Then check the DNS LOOKUP
m.) Right click the LOYOLA FAM then launch nslookup

n.) You should see this results or repeat the whole process or if not valid
you are going to return to task 1
o.) The close all windows to finish

5.) Install and configure DHCP

As the same process on installing the AD DS


-Open Server Manager and Add Roles
- Click next and check the DHCP SERVER

- Click Next until IPV4 DNS Settings and Validate DNS server/ if not valid
return to task 2. If it is valid you may click next and proceed.

- Click next until DHCP Scopes then click Add

- Click next then disable DHCPV6 stateless mode for this server

- You will click next and finish then the DHCP server will be
installed it should be look like this

- Check the address pool, in order to work pool must exist

6. Install and configure File Server


a.) We need to ensure that the D is formatted.
b.) To Install File services
- Open server manager and add roles
- Check file services

- Add the following role services


- Check D for storage monitoring

- Index the D volume

- Then click next and install

7. Create Students folder to D:\

c.) Use file services


- Create a folder in D: named Users

- Create a folder into Users named Loyola.

8. Share Loyola folder to the Users Domain


1. Right click on loyola then properties

2. Click sharing tab and advanced sharing


3. Click share this folder and click permissions
4. Remove everyone and click add

5. Click advanced and find now


6. Click find now and Search for domain users
7. Check full control and Apply

8. Click OK and Caching


9. And don’t let clients to download the files when server is online
by selecting No files
10. Click ok apply and close
9, Create File Screen
1. Click start> Administrative Tools> File server resource manager
2. Select File screens
3. Then create file screen from the right side of the screen

4. Then Browse form the file path

5. Define custom file screen properties

6. Under setting tab block the following groups

9. Don’t let the computer create a template
10.Create Organizational Unit
a. Click Start> Administration Tools> Active Directory Users and
Computers
b. Create new organizational unit from the current domain networking.local

c. Then name the new organizational unit as Loyola and protect it from
deletion.

Then click ok
d. Minimize the active directory and you will open the group policy
management
f. You will click start administrative tools group policy management

• 11. Create Group Policy Object/ Set-up folder redirection

A. expand Forest networking.local > domains> expand networking.local> right


click loyola and then create a GPO in this domain and link it here

b. Name the new GPO as ( you can name it according to what you want)
c. Click the new gpo to activate its console
d. Edit the new gpo

e. Access the folder redirection from the users configuration


f. You can right click the folder that you want to redirected and selected
properties

g. Change the settings to basic redirect


h. Click the settings tab and uncheck grand the user exclusive rights to
desktop ad apply settings then click yes when continue warning prompted

12. Create user accounts

A. Access active directory users and computers

2. Expand your domain (networking.local) then right click on students to create
new user
3. Set the name of the users and provide their username also their password
13. Join client pc to server
- On window 7 client pc access computer properties then change settings
- click change button on computer name tab to access domain and workgroups
settings
- and you can join your existing domain by entering your domain in domain section
- LOGON maybe or will required to continue joining to this new domain then your
computer will ask you to restart to apply the several changes
-Then after the restarting you may click switch user that you have created in the
server
-Then finally check the redirected folders. Finish
