Objectives Objective of the lesson is by developing healthy eating habits
and knowing how much sleep children need,
How to stay safe and healthy by making good choices.
Student prior knowledge Students understand the meaning of being safe and how to
prevent their bodies gaining an injury by providing solutions to
unsafe situations2
Lesson preparation Before the lesson, worksheets were prepared for students to write
down their healthy short-term goals.
Materials Butcher paper
Students goal worksheet
Key terminology Goals, healthy, habits, choices, exercise, fitness, bad choices
Learning strategies & Teacher asks Ss how we can stay safe in our environment.
activities: introductory Students develop responses from previous lessons.
Time T asks students to brainstorm what is the meaning of being
healthy. Ideas are written on an Anchor Chart about good and
made healthy choices. T revises ways how ‘we stay safe’ and ‘how
to keep our bodies healthy?’
Response T is looking for are, ‘healthy food, exercise, rest, good
hygiene, dental care, medical checks, sun protection, good
healthcare and safety products, avoid pollution.
Learning strategies & Students are asked to embody what does it mean to be unhealthy
activities: developmental and how they can show a right choice to be healthy. From these
Time responses, students choose one of the ways of being healthy and
set a short-term goal to make changes in one area with the aim of
keeping their body healthy.
Learning strategies Students connect with their learning and lesson objectives. Goals
& activities: are shared amongst other students and placed on the health Wall of

N.B- This health lesson was planned for 50 minutes. Due to catholic school week, liturgy, band and
library; we only were able to allocate 30 minutes to the health lesson. The students did not get to
begin working on their healthy goals.
