PERFORMANCE TASK I

Math has always been an enjoyable subject for me. Not my favorite one but not also the
usual student who hates this subject. I find studying this subject interesting because I’m the type
of person who likes to solve problems. I see this subject as a challenging one and I like that, I
don’t treat this subject as just a simple academic subject involving solving problems using
numbers etc. I treat this subject as part of like, it’s like it can be applied in real life in which it
really is. It always feels like an achievement whenever you’ve successfully solved a certain
problem, on the other hand, it fells frustrating as well whenever you’re struggling on solving a
problem.
Well, maybe I started loving Math ever since I was a child because my family is a
naturally math-loving people. I got this attitude mainly from my father because he’s a teacher
and he specialize in Math subject. But my mother was my first teacher, she’s the one who taught
me how to count, add numbers etc. even before I was grade one she’s already teaching me how
to add four digit numbers and as a child even though I don’t know what it is for I just studied it
thoroughly because my mother was the strictest teacher I ever met. So when I was on grade one,
even though I’m using even the fingers of my feet to add numbers, I was chosen to represent our
school to compete in a district quiz bee and the subject assigned to me was math and luckily, I
don’t have any clue how it happened, I placed second, we tied for the first place but I lost in the
tie breaking question and ever since then I started enjoying studying math. Growing up, I still
enjoyed studying math even though not that much because as I progress the subject is getting
harder and harder.
Currently, I’m getting worried in studying this new subject Mathematics in the Modern
World in this first year college because we didn’t have any math subject when I was on my 12 th
grade because all was taken on my 11th grade so I’m afraid I will find it difficult to adjust in
studying it again because I didn’t studied math for almost two years and given the fact that I will
be studying this subject through online makes me scared and worried but aside from that, I’m
very excited because finally I will be studying math again and I just hope for the very best for
me. I will make sure that I will do my very best to learn in this discipline and I’m already
looking forward on learning lot of things about this subject especially it is all about Mathematics
in the modern world from what the title of the course is saying.
