Learnings from SIP for Interim Evaluation

1st Week:

 basic market structure i.e., how market functions; and how to watch daily market i.e.,
top gainers, top losers, volume buzzers. He also described various investment
strategies to earn maximum returns by comparing fixed deposit, savings, and equity
with factoring in inflation. We were also given a glimpse about how to open a Demat
A/C for trading and managing stocks and also he told us in brief about the documents
required to open the Demat A/C such as Pan Card, Aadhar Card, and Cheque Book.
2nd Week:

 Primary and Secondary Markets, how companies play in the market, i.e.,
by bringing in IPO, and later getting listed on NSE/BSE(Secondary
market). He also explained to us about FPO( Follow on public offer),
ESOPs(Employee stock options), right shares, preference shares, mutual
fund, etc. He also familiarised us with different companies and
brokerage firms how and who all are listed on a Stock exchange,
factors responsible to note before investing in any security, the role
of gateway/ platforms used to settle trade amongst the investors, and
also made us understand the reasons associated with NEED of opening a
Demat Account, the methods used by brokerage firms to verify the
whether you are trading through proper verification means even if one
has not submitted his Power of Attorney (POA). He also enlightened us
with the different bodies of the market who regulate the trade-in the
economy.
 the cost associated with the opening of a Demat Account, the steps
that needed to be taken into consideration while logging into the
account, where now mobile number plays a major role, as it helps to
confirm and verify the authentication of the account being logged in
and transactions being performed. Then he also, explained about forms
of trading, i.e., intra-day(same day trading) and delivery( holding
position for a particular period of time and sell at the right time
when the price is appropriate to earn good returns. He familiarised us
with different trading options available, i.e., we can trade in
equity(cash market), mutual fund, commodity, and forex market. Going
forward with the equity market, we can do it either through intra
trading or through the delivery mechanism. Then, he also told us about
different strategies and tactics that investors use and must use while
performing intra-trade or delivery. Also, various brokerage firms
provide options of margin credit to different investors who deal in
good volumes and time frames to square-off the same. Also, there are
other factors that an investor must look out for before making a
decision on a stock, regarding resistance and support mechanism, so as
to understand the performance and returns associated with the same.
More or less, this was a little more depth discussion about tactics
and strategies to be used to make a wise decision when trading in
stock markets.

discount brokers, risk management system of such brokers, certain

the account. Further he also spoke about the task which we shall be
assigned for trading from sales, marketing, and return perspective,
then she showed us his members portfolio and explained everything and
also told us that our account will also appear and work in a similar
fashion. Then he discussed certain trading formulas/strategies which
we can use while trading, like diversification of investment into
different stocks, or division of investment in equal installments,
averaging the price to trade, applying stop-loss, keeping a check on
circuit breakers, and thereby booking both profit and loss to
understand the market in a better picture.

shared his knowledge about the charts, as to how to predict which
pattern of the stocks to follow, how to use resistance and support

the particular stocks. This was all explained during the last week

6th Week:

 feature of margin trading for intra-day trading so as to get access to buy/sell shares
of huge price. Since we had only two classes last week, so he gave us the task to
