A very good afternoon to one and all present here. My co-host Prishita Kulshreshtha and I,
Gaurav Singh welcome you all on behalf of IBS GURGAON to the event
“Panel Discussion on HR trends in 2021”.

At the outset, I’d like to warmly welcome the panelists for the day: Col. (Retd.) Rajesh Ohol,
(Dy. Vice President in Johnson Controls Hitachi Air Conditioning, India Ltd., Ahmedabad), Ms.
Persis Mathias (Director, Deloitte, London, U.K) and Ms. Shweta Kumar (Co-Founder of
Watsimp and Chief Learning Architect of Disprz, Mumbai), respected Director (Prof. S.C.
Sharma sir), Deputy Director, Placements (Dr Anupama Raina ma’am), Dean Academics (Dr
Shalini Khandelwal ma’am), Dean Examinations (Prof R Venkataraman sir), Deputy academic

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce our panelists for today.

Ms. Persis Mathias is an organisation transformation specialist, experienced in helping large,


global businesses define and adapt their organisation structures to the changing world of work,
underpinning it with the right leadership, talent and supporting cultures for success.
She focuses on enabling organisations leverage opportunities presented by the Future of Work to
build and maintain adaptable, nimble and sustainable organisations that will be better positioned
to drive exponential growth, value and impact.

Ms. Persis Mathias was born and brought up in Jamshedpur. After completing her Masters at
XLRI, she started her career in Human Capital Consulting with Hewitt Associates.
She has lived and worked in India, South East Asia, China, Africa and US enjoying the diversity
of learning experiences. For the last 10 years she has been working with Deloitte in the UK in
their Human Capital Practice.

Being passionate about unlocking the potential of people, teams and organisations, she has sought
out opportunities to make a difference. After graduating from college, she went to Calcutta to live
and work with the Missionaries of Charity. She feels fortunate to have met and spent time with
Mother Teresa.
Taking a career break at Hewitt, she volunteered in Ethiopia, helping the poorest communities in
remote parts of the Dawro Zone. She is currently on the Board of Directors for a charitable
organisation which supports people with a learning disability to gain skills, achieve qualifications
and secure jobs, so they can reach their full potential.

I am delighted to welcome

Col. Rajesh Ohol who retired from the Indian Army after a 22 year stint of serving our Nation.
Col. Ohol is, presently, the Deputy Vice President at Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning
India Limited in Ahmedabad. He has been with the company for 6 years.

During his tenure with the Army, he has led a team through the arduous terrain of Doda district in
J&K in counter insurgency operations and has won accolades for his operational successes. He
has served and supported operations on the Indo China border, Indo Bhutan border, Indo Nepal
border and the Line of Control in Arunachal Pradesh, Poonch in J&K and more.

Col. Ohol has worked in various Fields like Training & Development, Corporate Social
Responsibility , Facility, Communication, Security, Infrastructure and so on.

A dynamic leader with a proven track record of delivering on complex HR strategies, he drives
KPIs and drives culture change: he is known to ensure that employees have an excellent work
life balance and has driven this as a culture at Johnson Controls-Hitachi.

Under his stewardship as head of CSR, the company has won an award for being one of the top
10 companies for responsible business from Saberra Foundation.

He drives accountabilities in Global real estate operations in 25 countries with respect to, Capex,
Brand guidelines implementation and EHS. He heads HR pan India and drives competency
building, liaison, Training, CSR, Infrastructure, Discipline and Vigilance.

We are delighted to have you here with us Sir.

We also have the privilege to have with us Ms. Shweta Kumar, who is an extremely busy person
because she presently plays two professional roles.

She is a startup entrepreneur, being the Co-Founder of Watsimp , which is an AI based


Employee Engagement Solutions startup.

She is also the Chief Learning Architect of Disprz, which is a learning transformation company.

Prior to this she has been CEO of OD Alternatives and has worked with clients and companies in
India, Africa, Middle East, Latin America in the areas of organizational transformation, team
capability enhancement, leadership development and culture change, in her prior roles.

In the last 20 years of her career, Ms. Shweta Kumar has worked with organizations such as
Hewitt, Arthur Andersen, White Spaces Consulting, Naspers, Honeywell, Motorola and Intel.

She is passionate about the process of transformation at an individual, team and organizational
level and specializes in helping leadership teams in the areas of creating desired mindset shifts.

She holds a Masters in Human Resource Management from TISS and Masters in Management of
Change (Transforming Self and Organization) from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France.
Ms. Shweta is a certified and experienced coach and facilitator in John Mattone Intelligent
Leadership Certified Coach, Turning Learning into Action Certified Coach and Transformational
Alignment Certified Coach.

She volunteers for the Literacy India project in her spare time.

Director’s Speech:

I would like to introduce our Director, Prof SC Sharma Sir without whose vision and guidance
this event would have not been possible.

Prof. S. C. Sharma sir is an economist, having highly versatile experience of over 45 years in
economics, financial analysis, management, and teaching. He has been a member of Indian
economic services batch 1971 and has worked at various policy analysis levels in the
Government of India, including the ministries of finance, cabinet secretariat, etc. He was the
economic advisor at steel authority of India in the late eighties. He has been a professor of
economics at LBS National Academy of Administration Mussoorie, where he trained around
1000 officers during 1976-1983. He has been with IBS Gurgaon since 2010 and took over as
director in 2014.

I would like to request Director Sir, Prof. S. C. Sharma sir to moderate the panel discussion.

2020 has been a year unlike any other. COVID-19 has forever left its mark on the way we live
and work. Since we’re still living through the pandemic, we need to start preparing for a post-
COVID world. In today’s panel discussion, we will reflect on various HR trends we’re expecting
in 2021 and beyond.

opportunity to thank our Director Prof. SC Sharma Sir for moderating the panel discussion on
“HR Trends in 2021”.

Prishita: I would also like to convey our deep sense of appreciation to the panel members for
their discussion on such a relevant topic. It has been an engaging and captivating session. The
takeaways from this session have really been enlightening.

Gaurav: I extend my thanks to Dean Academics and SIP coordinator Dr. Shalini Khandelwal
ma’am and Prof. Jean Saldanha ma’am for the support and guidance they have extended to all of
us in conducting this event.
