The Controversy of Vaccine for COVID 19 in Indonesia

In recent months, there has been an increase in the number of people who get a
positive corona virus. Indonesia is one of the countries that have the highest corona
virus cases. According to data on worldometer, Indonesia has reached 636,154 cases
since the beginning of 2020. Indonesia had done the quarantine almost for a year but,
it was not efficient because there were many people who did not obey it. Another
solution to decrease the cases are using the vaccine, but not every Indonesian people
agree with that. These are the pros and the cons.

The first pro is the vaccine can make our imun stronger and crystallize the virus.
Actually, vaccines contain viruses or bacteria, both live and weakened. In addition,
vaccines are substances or compounds that function to form endurance. In order to
make our body is protected from the viruses, we need to be vaccinated. The vaccines
work by stimulating the human body to produce antibodies that can fight germs that
cause the infection. In addition, the vaccines will fight a virus or bacteria aggressively
before spreading out and causing diseases in the human body. If the viruses and the
bacteria do not have a host to live and reproduce, then the bacteria and the viruses will
completely die. Therefore, it will save human in the whole world. Vaccines are
substances or compounds that function to form endurance.
  
The second pro is people who have been infected with the corona virus need to be
vaccinated in order to get healthy. The vaccine will prompt their immune system to
respond much as it would have on its first reaction to the actual pathogen (WHO,
2020). Today, Indonesia has many cases of the corona virus, in order to make the
virus does not spread out, we have to heal people who get positive corona virus by
getting the vaccine. Vaccines do not only protect one human body but, also can
protect the whole of the population in this world. If many people get the vaccine, then
we have the small opportunity for getting disease or epidemic either corona virus or
other diseases.

The first con is some Indonesian people do not want themself to be vaccinated
because they think the virus will get well on its own. Actually, each human has imun
which is produced from their own human body. The body's own immune system
mechanism is very complex, consisting of a collection of organs, tissues, cells, and
molecules. Some people believe that they can fight the corona virus or other viruses
because people who have strong imun can fight the viruses without getting the
vaccine. Dr. Reviono said that in Wuhan, China as the city where the spread of the
corona virus started, many patients have recovered. The information obtained shows
that 80% of the sufferers recover by themselves because there are no congenital
diseases and the patient's age is relatively young.

The second con is the vaccines have not passed the test, if the vaccine spread out
it can cause another disease which is very dangerous. According to Zubairi, until now
there is no vaccine has been proven to be effective and safe for use in Indonesia,
including the Sinovac vaccine that has arrived in Indonesia. Sinovac vaccine is still
being reviewed by BPOM. Currently, none of the vaccines have received a
distribution license in Indonesia. The Sinovac vaccine that has arrived in Indonesia is
still in phase three clinical trial phase.  

The third con is the vaccine can harm the shark population. Not all of the
vaccines are made from the same materials, some of them are made from squalane
(natural oil). That natural oil is produced from shark heart. A company that is from
the United Kingdom said that they will produce 1 billion doses vaccine with squalane
on the may 2021, certainly it will disturb the shark population. California Shark Allies
said if the whole of the world gets the vaccine, it will probably kill 250.000 sharks.
This method cannot be used in the long term because the sharks will go extinct. In
addition, when the sharks go extinct the natural ecosystem will disturb because the
sharks are the top predators in the marine ecosystem.

In conclusion, both of the pros and cons are not wrong because they have
opinions like above based on what they have heard even their experience. Personally,
I agree if everyone gets the vaccines because the reasons like above. However, I think
the vaccine must be prioritized to medical workers and people who get positive. At
this pandemic we have to obey the health protocol by wearing masks and keeping
social distancing. In addition, we have to wash our hands frequently. Not only that, we
have to be wise in reading or watching the news because not all of them are the fact.
