(Intro 10 min)- Teacher will recap yesterday's lesson regarding brainstorming and introduction, misconceptions or errors can be discussed and fixed at this time. Teacher will ask two students to volunteer to discuss the importance of a story being told in sequential order. Teacher will continue to inform the importance for students deeper understanding. Teacher will show chain of events in a story and begin to talk about characters. Instruction (Concept Development 15-20 min)- Students will watch a video of planning and pre-writing. Students and teacher will discuss the video. Teacher will distribute personal graphic organizer for students to organize ideas.Teacher will discuss the importance of a reader reading to understand the story. Teacher will be available to address any concerns students may have. Students will then complete personal narrative quiz. Teacher will discuss the importance of sequential story order and distribute personal narrative graphic organizer for students to work Learning Task independently for 10 minutes. Students will review their brainstorm ideas to see what was written in each planning box to begin pre- write. 1. Completion of personal graphic organizer. Closing 2. Personal narrative quiz. Noting students responses to questions and uncertainty of how to use the organizer or uncertainty of where information may go.
Students who need more assistance will be placed in a mixed group
