Course Name: AGR 175: Fundamentals of Cereal Crop Production

Goal and Objectives


The goal of the course AGR 175 Fundamentals of Cereal Crop Production is to develop
knowledge base of the students in formulating cereal crop production strategies in a condition of
complex nature of agriculture.
After completion of the course the students will learn about:
1. The production constraints of cereal crops in Bangladesh, and
2. The production techniques of major cereals such as rice, wheat, maize, barley and minor
cereals.

9. Origin and classification of wheat
10. Growth stages of wheat
11. Distinguished characteristics between new and old wheat
12. Climate, and cultural practices for wheat production
13. Cultural practices for wheat production
14. Quality factors in wheat
15. Origin, classification and climate of maize
16. Growth stages of maize
17. Cultural practices for maize production
18. Origin and classification of barley
19. Plant morphology and growth stages of barley
20. Cultural practices for barley production
