Table 1: Design data used for equipment cost calculation.

A. Correlation Method [1]

C e =a+b Sn
Where;
Ce=purchased equipment cost on a U.S. Gulf Coast basis, Jan. 2010
a,b=cost constant
S=size parameter
n=exponent for type of equipment

Figure 1: Data taken for equipment cost evaluation for DD-101 (HIGHLIGHTED IN YELLOW).
Figure 2: Data for material cost factor,Fm.

Since the material cost factor for stainless steel 304 and stainless steel 306 are same (1.3), thus the material factor will
not be included in our calculation.

C e =a+b Sn

C e =61,500+32,500 ∗27.520.8

C e =522,446.03USD

C e =522,446.03USD

The cost of equipment obtained were based on CEPCI, January 2010 (CEPCI=532.90). Cost index was used to evaluate
cost of equipment at 2020 (CEPCI=596.20).

B. Graphical/Equation Method [2]

The equipment cost calculation using equation method was evaluated using equation below:

C p=F M CV +C PL
Where;
FM= material cost factor
CV=empty vessel factor
CPL=cost of platforms and ladders

Figure 3: Data for material cost factor,Fm.

Since the reactor in horizontally orientated, thus the formula below was used to evaluate the C V;

Horizontal Vessels for 1,000<W < 920,000lb :

{ 8.717 −0.2330 [ ln(W ) ] +0.04333 [ ln(W )] }
C V =e

C V =e
C V =198,463.10 USD

The cost of platform and ladders were evaluated using equation below;

Horizontal Vessels for 3< D i <12 ft :

C PL =1,580 ( D i )0.20294

C PL =1,580 ( 6.56 )0.20294

C PL =2,314.53USD

C p=F M CV +C PL
C p=( 2.1)(198,463.10)+2,314.53

C P =419,087.04 USD

The cost of equipment obtained were based on CEPCI, January 2000 (CEPCI=394.00). Cost index was used to evaluate
cost of equipment at 2020 (CEPCI=596.20).
