Lesson: Rectilinear motion: Graphical Representation and Interpretation

Aim: To enable the student to make graphical representation and interpretation of rectilinear motion.

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the lesson, student should be able to:

1. define displacement, speed, velocity and acceleration


2. sketch and use displacement-time graph for motion of a body
3. sketch and use velocity-time graph for motion of a body
4. interpret displacement-time graph and velocity-time graph

Assumed Prior Knowledge

1. Understand the basic physical quantities and SI units for time, distance, displacement, speed and
velocity
2. Able to differentiate between scalars and vectors

Underlying Principles

1. Illustrating a concept through visual

3. Interpreting graphs
