Why do I love old music?

Music plays an important role in our

lives. Sometimes we are not aware of it
but it kinds of molds us into the kind of
person that we are. To be honest with
you, I love classic or old school music.
You know why? The biggest reason is for
the simple fact that IT WAS BETTER!
But I also appreciate the music
nowadays. I think it’s all a matter of
preference and taste. While I definitely
love older music, I also like some of the
newer music, mainly because it has an
“older” sound.
I remember when I first heard the song “Lady” by the late Kenny
Rogers. It was totally awesome! That`s where my interest for old school
songs began. Obviously, this is not a genre of music many millennials
enjoy, but I encourage them to try listening to old songs. So here`s my
reasons why I do love old school music:

1. THEY NEVER GET BORING-

My mood gets even better when
this is the kind of music I listen to
and it lessen my stress. The lyrics
itself will make you really feel.
You will definitely have fun. There`s no way someone couldn`t sing
along to it, even if they hated it!

2. THE STYLE OF MUSIC IS MORE “RAW”-

When listening to older songs, the beat, voice and the entire song, in
general, is less edited and as a result produces better music than the
majority of the modernized genres out there today.
3. IT ISN`T TRASHY-
Today`s music is rather obscene
if you take the time to actually
listen to what the artist singing.
Usually, it isn`t really child
appropriate. Like for example,
most rap songs are not
appropriate for kids because of
the language itself. Sure, beat
may be catchy, but the message
behind it usually aren’t.
4. IT`S CATHY.
Have you ever tried to listen to the
songs of the famous 70`s band Vst
and Company? “Tayo`y
Magsayawan”, “Awitin mo at
Isasayaw ko”, “Rock Baby Rock”
are just few of their popular songs.
You will definitely dance when you
hear it! By the way, these three songs were composed by the veteran
comedian and actor Joey De Leon. He is also my inspiration when it
comes in song writing. This is one of the reasons why we enjoy listening
to music like this. It`s Catchy, it`s easy to sing along and it has a positive
message in the lyrics.

5. IT`S SOMETHING THAT EVERYONE CAN RELATE TO.-

As I said earlier, most old

songs have a very meaningful
messages from the lyrics. One
of my favorite love song is
“Woman” by John Lennon.
Written and performed by
Lennon himself. It`s a tribute to
his wife, Yoko Ono. The lyrics
said “It is written in the
stars…” meaning, they would
meet and fall in love and he
loved that woman very much.
So with that kind of words, I
relate too much. That song has a deep meaning for me. I also fell in love
with a beautiful girl and her name is “Mariella Ortiz”. For me, she is the
woman in that song. And I fell in love with her even more as it lasted.
So, the impact of old songs is very different. You will feel “Pure Love”
listening to this.
6. Old music is original, new music all sounds the same.
As you can observe, all new or modern music has the same sort of beat,
tempo, style, etc. What makes old music so unique is how original each
song is. A lot of modern songs sound the same, probably because the
same style is taken from another artist. Old music has a style that fits the
personality and individuality of the artist.
7. Old music gives you “the feels” versus newer unfamiliar
music.
Oldies bring out the happiness and urge to sing in all of us. Sure, you
might be a terrible singer, but we get such the feels with these oldies that
we can’t help but feel the love that these songs bring.
Lastly, Older music tends to use more melodic devices and techniques
than modern day music. This may be why I enjoy it!
So I encourage everyone to start listening to old songs! There`s nothing
wrong about it… Trust me it`s fun!
