HVAC Design shall be designed in accordance with the NFPA, CIBSE and ASHRAE Codes,
ASHGAL, KAHRAMAA and QCS standards as well as QP Attachment 16, Minimum Design
Requirements for Building Services.
Design and Engineering of the HVAC system is proposed for three buildings – gate house,
control building and sub-station building.
Guard house shall be provided by means of an air handling unit with back up split
unit(s).
Control Building shall be by means of duty and standby air handling units.
The control building and substation buildings shall be provided with Terminal units, Air
handling units, Ventilation Fans, piping and ductwork and HVAC Controls, as required by the
air distribution system.
The buildings shall be kept pressurized as per QCS requirements and QP Fire safety
philosophy. Fresh air intakes to the HVAC system shall be provided with motorized gas tight
dampers for open/close operational control.
All battery rooms will be shall be provided with explosion proof duty and standby exhaust
fans capable of achieving 12 air changes per hour extract.
Extract from pantries and WC’s shall be provided with separate ducted extract fans..
Dampers for balancing and control shall be provided for the HVAC systems.
Fire and fire smoke dampers shall be provided as per the fire and life safety strategy and
NFPA 101.
Blast and gas tight dampers shall be provided as per the hazard classification for the
buildings. Where the buildings are classified as blast resistant, no HVAC plant shall be roof
mounted.
Each building shall have a dedicated mechanical control panel located in the electrical room.
The mechanical systems will be designed to limit the noise and vibration from mechanical
equipment.
The entire system will be designed to suit the hazard classification as described/quoted in
the Loss Prevention Philosophy for Fire and safety (QP-PHL-S-001).
All air conditioning ductwork will be insulated in accordance with QCS 2010.
