Nurses and Doctors are some of the true heroes of our time. They have to deal with
emergencies regularly and make the best decisions for our health. This crochet gnome
pattern is to honor the heroes among us.
My mom (and dad) was always the first person to help in an emergency. She was an
amazing nurse. I remember once, coming home from a movie when we came across a head-
on collision. My parents pulled over immediately and went over to help. Mom checked every
one to see who was hurt. My dad (volunteer firefighter at the time) sat with a man that was
pinned in his car and tried to keep him calm.

As a nurse this was not the only emergency my mother helped with. She was
always the first to stop the car and help anyone in need. I can just
remember her say, “I am a nurse, I can help!”
