0 THE PREZI CANVAS

The canvas is the digital work surface upon which you create your prezi. It has a grid background and is
unlimited in size. You can imagine and create anything from this space. There are no boundaries except
the ones you establish when you develop your prezi. The canvas has the following elements:

 Editable, unlimited screen : There is no limit to the screen space available to develop your prezi.
You can move left or right, and up or down without constraints. Your only question is how to use
the space to effectively communicate your message.

 Bubble menu : You do all your editing and revising from the Bubble menu in the upper left. When
you click a submenu (the bubbles that surround the Write bubble), you will see additional choices
presented to you. For example, when you click the Frame bubble, four choices appear Bracket,
Circle, Rectangle, or Hidden Frame. This is the case for all the other submenus as well.

 Save, Undo, Redo, Meeting, Print, Help, and Exit links : While your prezi is in Edit mode, you can see
these links in the upper-center of the canvas:

 Save link: automatically saves your prezi in short intervals.

 Undo link: deletes the last action done.
 Meeting link: you can invite a user to edit or start an online presentation with remote users.
 Redo link: restores the deleted last action
 Print link: saves your prezi as a PDF so that you can print each individual Path screen.
 Help link: brings up a Quick Help menu.
 Exit link: saves and exits your current prezi.

 Home & Zoom buttons : The Zoom In button is the + (plus sign), and the Zoom Out button is the –
(minus sign) you see on the middle right. Use these when you want to move manually around the
canvas. Even though your prezi is automatically saved in short intervals, remember to click this link
now and then just to be safe. The home button takes you to the first text area or object inserted.

6.0 THE TRANSFORMATION ZEBRA

The ability to communicate with text is one of the places where Prezi really excels. When you click on an
object, Prezi's Transformation Zebra tool appears. It lets you move (center of the zebra), size and scale
(shaded inner ring or the "+" "-" buttons of the zebra), and rotate objects of any kind (outer ring of the
zebra). Clicking on the "pencil" button will initiate Edit mode of the selected object. See the illustration
below to understand the transformation zebra’s mechanics:

The outer ring lets you

rotate the object in a
clockwise or counter-
clockwise direction.

The shaded inner ring lets

you resize the object
bigger or smaller.

Clicking on the "pencil" Click and hold on the Right Click anywhere on the Zebra
button will initiate Edit inner center button to re- to access additional editing options.

duplicate them, bring them forward
or send them back, and select
7.0 SMART ZOOMING several all objects.

Using Smart Zooming, you can communicate your message more effectively by emphasizing things as you
talk about them. This function works in Show mode because it’s used in real time. When you want to
move about the canvas without using a Path, use Smart Zooming. It gives you the ability to make a point
or answer a question by jumping back and zooming in to the point under discussion.

Zoom in: In Show mode, click an element on your screen. Notice that Prezi zooms in, and the element gets
larger. This zoom-in movement is determined for you based on how you have placed your item. You don’t
have to worry about how to zoom in or center it. If you’ve rotated an object, the software shows that
rotation and presents the element to you right side up. It’s all part of the program. You can also use the +
(plus sign) button on the mid-right side of your canvas to zoom in and center the entire canvas.

Zoom out: Again in Show mode, after you’ve clicked an object, you can click anywhere else on the canvas
and the object will zoom out. Using the – (minus sign) button, you can zoom out and center the entire
canvas. This function allows you to show the big picture of the elements by going from the details out to
the larger view.
