Johnson, dies
at 74

On Monday, The President of Farmer’s Bank in Riverdale, John J. Johnson, passed away at the age of 74.
He died of a heart attack during the first quarter of the basketball game at Riverdale High School.

Johnson’s family respectfully invites community to attend the funeral service, at 11 a. m., on Thursday, at
McGrew, Jones Funeral Home 2121 Central Ave, in Riverdale.

Johnson was survived by his wife, Helen. He left the world when he was practicing something he was passionate
about such as watching basketball games.

Johnson played basketball for Riverdale University, where he was an all-conference performer.

Also, he was an active person and he worked hard to achieve his professional goals.

In 1950, He received a MBA degree from Riverdale University. After ten years, he became a member of the
Riverdale school board until 1970.

In the same year, he got a membership of the Riverdale city council until 1978. Also, he made a great effort to
work as a president of the State Banker's Association, so his life was an attention-grabbing.

Success is not difficult according to this family as His father also was a minister of the First Presbyterian Church
of Riverdale.

The deceased cared about his community as he was born, reared, completed his study, worked and lastly died in
the same city. Undoubtedly, his family, friends and people who know him will miss him deeply.

The burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Clearly, deceased suffered from heart attack and the memorial
contributions will go to the Local Heart Association. If desired, friends or family can send flowers or
contributions to this place.
