Primary Course Objectives


 To explore the nature, purpose and characteristics common to all religious traditions
 To learn the basic beliefs, teachings and practices of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism
and Buddhism
 To be able to compare and contrast Catholic Christianity with non-Christian religions, with a
particular eye toward recognizing what is “true and holy” in the various religious traditions
(Nostra Aetate 2)
 To be aware of the teaching of the Catholic Church regarding non-Christian religions,
especially the Church’s commitment to dialogue, and the promotion of unity and love among
all people
 To be better prepared to participate in the increasingly global community, especially as the
students’ time at Aquinas is coming to an end

Grading Policy
 For quarterly grades, a “Total Points” system will be used:

Quarterly Grade = Points Scored x 100


Points Possible

 There will also be a final exam, which will be worth one quarterly grade.

 Final Grade = 3rd Quarter + 4th Quarter + Final Exam

Note: The Final Exam will be done in class on May 19 and 20.
