BUSINESS ETHICS & SOCIAL RESPONSIBLITIES:

Business ethics are moral principles that guides how a business behaves. Acting in an ethical
way as a business is distinguishing between right and wrong and to make business decisions
that are morally and ethically rights.
There are some major ethical and social responsibilities that MacDonald face on a day to day
basis.
HEALTH AND SAFETY:
Health and Safety Every day we are following strict cleaning, internal control and
hygiene procedures in each of our restaurants. We’ve increased the cleaning and
sanitizing of all contact surfaces including our kiosks, tabletops, benches, door handles
and floors. Our crew are regularly washing their hands with anti-microbial hand wash, and as
always, wearing gloves as they prepare your meal.
Contactless Flexibility:
We’re introducing new contactless options to our In-restaurant, Drive-Thru and Delivery
services. These procedures will minimize customer and employee contact to further
improve the security of our restaurants. In restaurant this implies our McDonald’s crew
person will place the bag on the counter shelf for you to select up, instead of directly
handing it to you. You’ll also use the My Maccas App to order and pay. Our Delivery
partners are able to deliver our food via a contactless experience, if you so choose.
McDonald’s food wastage:
McDonald’s first became a partner of Food bank Australia in 2011. Since then, we've donated
over 550,000kgs of edible goods from our distribution centers across Australia. In 2018 alone,
we contributed over 100,000kgs of food, which equates to around 235,600 meals for Australians
in need. In 2019, we began trailing the conversion of our used dregs into compost, which is
being applied by one in all our lettuce farmers.
Making recycling easier:
Recycling shouldn’t be a chore. That’s why we've made a commitment to recycle guest
packaging in 100% of our restaurants by 2025. Since 2018, we've installed recycling units in 35
restaurants, making it easier to separate your paper cups for recycling. Our paper cups are sent to
specialist recycling centers in Australia, which make products from the fiber and plastic lining,
including egg trays that return in to our Supply Chain or park wheel stops that are being trailed in
our Spring Farm (NSW) restaurant
Being smarter with deliveries:
We’re trying to drive fewer kilometer’s and deliver to our restaurants within the best way
possible. We’re consolidating deliveries and implementing trials to use the trucks that deliver our
food for reverse logistics initiatives, like recycling. By better utilizing these trucks, our overall
impact is reduced.
Rethinking our packaging:
We realize that tiny changes to our packaging can make an enormous difference– in recent years
we've removed the plastic lid from the McFlurry, reduced the load of our Sundae Cups and
reduced the number of fiber employed in our cup design significantly.  Currently, 83% of our
packaging is fiber based and 100% of that fiber based packaging comes from recycled,
renewable or certified sources – a target we originally set for 2020.
Ditching plastic straws:
We know plastic could be a topic our customers are keen about. So we've committed to
removing our current plastic straws from our restaurants by the tip of 2020. We’re currently
trailing fiber straws in select restaurants round the country and this year, we'll be implementing a
‘straw behind the counter’ policy nationwide to minimize plastic waste.
