This quarter was challenging for me as I took two classes that required writing but I have
managed to progress in my learning. My group and I proposed a CSR event “Healthy practices,
Healthy life” and our target company was Johnson and Johnson for Project #3. On analyzing my
performance in this class I have seen a great improvement in my writing style. I’ve noticed my
essays have been a lot more professional after taking Bus 100W. This memo is to evaluate my
overall performance during this project and in this class. This memo is to evaluate my overall
performance during this project and in this class.
For Project #3, I was the Event Accountant. As an Event Accountant, I was responsible for
creating a budget and offer guidance on cost reduction. When creating a budget I had to research
and compare prices for sanitizing products like hand sanitizer, alcohol wipes, masks, and gloves
by calling and emailing different suppliers to find the lowest possible price and the best quality
items. As a part of my role, I also had to write a paragraph about the cost analysis, where I break
down the cost summary and compare the prices. For our 3rd meeting, I was able to explain the
budget and cost analysis to the group so that everyone had an idea of how much the total budget
was and how I created the budget plan. Overall, I believe I performed well as an Event
Accountant. The net income of Johnson & Johnson is $14.7 billion, and the event cost is
approximately $170,000. Johnson and Johnson prioritize the health and safety of not only our
customers and employees but also our local communities and the world as a whole. Our event
focuses to create awareness about the virus and will be giving out an assembled care package to
promote a healthy lifestyle. This project has given me the opportunity to take up a role that I
have no previous experience in. I enjoyed taking up this role as it was something new and
challenging, I also had to put a lot of effort into the research and finding prices of items in bulk. I
also learned how important it is to have research skills after taking this class, most of our projects
required some sort of research. For Project #1 I noticed how I had to improve more on the format
for both the resume and cover letter, I feel like I could’ve done better if I researched more about
formats of a cover letter and resume and read through all the samples Dr.Acker had posted. I
believe my Budget Plan made a significant contribution to our Project “Healthy Practices,
Healthy life.” For our first group meeting, I wasn’t able to attend due to an emergency, however,
I was able to catch up with everything through our group chat. We divided roles for everyone
during our first meeting and I chose Event Accountant. I chose that role because it was
something I had never done before, I saw it as a challenge and decided to do tons of research on
different budget plans and how to create one. I also went through all the samples Dr. Acker had
posted and it helped me a lot. My first responsibility was to compare the prices of different
venues. Everyone in the group suggested a possible location and I was required to find out which
one was the best in terms of money and popularity. I had to research and compare the prices of
all the items required for an event like tables, chairs, booths, and care package items. I believe I
did a good job in creating a budget plan that was easy to read and understand. I made sure my
group was completely familiar with the budget plan so that they can use that information to work
on their part. Overall, I had a great experience taking this class, I learned how to write
professionally and research topics. I also learned important skills like how to update a resume or
cover letter, how to write a memo to employees, and how to write an apology letter to an
unhappy customer. Although I got a B for project #1, it helped me see what mistakes I made and
will help me to not make those mistakes again.
