SITUATION # 1 UNITS 1 & 2

Student A

You are the secretary in a law studio. Introduce yourself to the new employee. Complete a form with
information about the new employee (ask about his / her name, ask him / her to spell the last name, ask about
his / her address, e – mail address, telephone number, age, etc.). Also, tell Student B how to get to the bank
(e.g. Don’t take a taxi / Walk).

Student B

You are the new employee. Introduce yourself to the secretary and answer his / her questions with your
personal information.

You have to go to the bank. Ask your colleague about the location of The National Bank.

Note: The law studio is on the corner of Chile and Rivadavia Streets, and The National Bank is at Palmares
Open Mall.

SITUATION # 2 UNITS 4 & 5

You and your friend are looking at your family photo album. After you finish telling your friend about your
family, you two plan to go to an event next weekend.

Student A

You are looking at your family photo album when your friend arrives. Answer his / her questions about your
family. Then ask you friend about the event.

Student B

Ask your friend questions about his / her family and the people in the photograph. Ask about someone who is
not in the photograph, too (appearance, age, occupation, etc.). Then invite your friend to an event. Answer his
/ her questions about the day, time and place of the event. Decide where and what time you are meeting.

SITUATION # 3 UNIT 6
You and your brother / sister need to buy a present for your mother / father.

Student A

Invite your brother / sister to go shopping. First decide what your mother / father needs and then agree where
you are going to buy it. At the mall, compare opinions about clothes. You like the black shoes / blue jeans /
yellow sweaters.

Student B

You don’t like the clothes your brother / sister does. You like the brown shoes / black pants / blue sweaters.
Finally, decide with your brother / sister on the present for your mother / father.

SITUATION # 4 UNIT 7

It’s lunchtime and you are at the company buffet with a new colleague.

Student A

Introduce yourself to your partner. Then ask your colleague if he / she is a morning or an evening person. Ask
about his / her daily routine / activities, too. Then, answer your colleague’s questions about what household
chores you and your family do. Also tell him / her about your weekly routine / activities (have English classes,
etc.). Finally, you both talk about the activities you do in your free time.

Student B

Answer your colleague’s questions and tell him / her why you are a morning or an evening person. Tell your
colleague about your daily routine / activities. Ask him / her about household chores and his / her weekly
routine. Then, you and your partner describe what you two do in your free time.

SITUATION # 5 UNITS 7 & 9
You are having coffee with a new classmate / co – worker at a coffee shop. You are talking about your daily
and weekly activities, and your plans for the next weekend.

Student A

Ask your classmate / co – worker if he / she is a morning or an evening person. Ask why. Also ask about his /
her daily and weekly activities. Talk about your plans for the next weekend. You are having a good weekend,
so invite your classmate / co – worker to do something (go to the game, go rafting, etc.)

Student B

Answer your partner’s questions. You have a very busy daily and weekly schedule, but you don’t have any
plans for the next weekend. Accept your partner’s invitation.

Responde las preguntas de tu compañero. Tiene una agenda
diaria y semanal muy ocupada, pero no tiene planes para el
próximo fin de semana. Acepte la invitación de su socio.

You and your friend are talking on the phone about a house you have on the beach. He’d / She’d like to rent it
to go on holiday with his / her family.

Student A

You have a house to rent across from the beach. Your friend calls you to ask for information about the house.
Answer his / her questions. Ask how he / she and his / her family are getting there and what his / her family
usually does when they are on vacation.

Student B

You are planning your vacation. Your friend has a house to rent across from the beach. Call him / her and ask
what he / she is doing now. Ask about his / her family, too. Ask your friend where the house is exactly. Ask
about the different rooms and what furniture there is in the house. Ask about the weather in that place and
what places there are near the house. Answer your friend’s questions.

You and your Mom / Dad are planning a dinner party for some relatives in your house.

Student A

You are the mother / father. Prepare a menu with vegetables, meat, fruit and dessert. Ask your daughter / son
for the foods and drinks you have. Ask how many / much you have. Make a shopping list with the foods you
need and tell your daughter / son how many / much to buy.

Student B

You are the daughter / son. You are looking into the cupboard and fridge. Answer your mother’s / father’s
questions about the foods in these places. Suggest other ideas for the menu.

After vacation, you are talking with a classmate / colleague.

Student A

Your classmate / colleague looks great. Ask about his / her vacation (where and when he / she went, means
of transportation, the weather, activities he / she did, things he / she bought, etc.)

You look awful. You went on vacation but you were sick in bed all the time. Answer your classmate’s /
colleague’s questions.

Student B

You just came back from vacation and you look great. Answer your classmate’s / colleague’s questions about
your vacation. Your partner looks awful. Ask about his / her vacation and his / her ailments. Ask about his /
her visit to the doctor and remedies.

Student A

You were absent from school yesterday because you didn’t feel well. A school friend comes to visit you. Tell
him / her what happened to you and how you feel. Then ask him / her what they did at school yesterday.
Show surprise about your friend’s new plans and ask him / her about this event.

Student B

You are visiting a school friend because he / she didn’t go to school yesterday. Show concern about his / her
health problem, and give him / her some advice. Answer your friend’s questions about school.

Then, tell your friend that you are participating in a talent show next month. Tell your friend about your abilities
and what you are doing in the talent show.

Estudiante A
Ayer faltaste a la escuela porque no te sentías bien. Un amigo
de la escuela viene a visitarte. Dígale lo que le pasó y cómo se
siente. Luego pregúntele qué hicieron ayer en la escuela.
Muestre sorpresa sobre los nuevos planes de su amigo y

habilidades y lo que está haciendo en el concurso de talentos
