To Whom It May Concern:

It is with great pleasure that I recommend Alicia Sage for consideration for the Teacher on
Special Assignment Technology position.

Ms. Sage has been a classroom teacher at Fesler and El Camino Junior High Schools since
graduating from the credential program in English at California Polytechnic State University.
Since that time, Ms. Sage has demonstrated her ability to create an inclusive classroom
environment that is grounded in rigorous standards with a variety of supports to ensure
student success. She also has implemented a variety of technologies into her day-to-day
practice, showing her knowledge of technology integration.

In addition to teaching at the middle school level, Ms. Sage completed the curriculum and
instruction master’s degree program in the School of Education at Cal Poly. I had the pleasure
of serving as Ms. Sage’s advisor on her action research project, which focused on improving
the listening and speaking skills of middle school students. In developing this innovative unit
in which students created their own podcasts, Ms. Sage grounded her instruction in culturally
relevant teaching and technology integration. Through this project and her master’s program
coursework, Ms. Sage holds a strong understanding of social, emotional, and cultural
awareness as well as research-based practices for the implementation and integration of
technology.

Ms. Sage has a strong work ethic and reflects deeply on her practice. Ms. Sage has the skills
needed to assist other teachers in reflecting upon and refining their practice. Please feel free to
contact me if you have any questions about this applicant.

Sincerely,

Megan Guise
