 Consider load height for both travel and the
delivery site (consult with Orange hire staff)
 Check all doors and covers are locked
 Buckets and blades that rest against the
gooseneck require diagonal chain arrangement
at the rear of the machine
 Diagonal chain arrangement may be required to
avoid tyre/track damage on some plant
 Lower to the deck all buckets, blades and
rippers
 Use webbing strap to tie down attachments to
prevent bounce
 Articulated vehicles must have steering locks
engaged

Step 2. Site access

Arrival onsite 4S  All members of the crew will need to be: 2M Supervisor
Unaware of site safety rules,
o site inducted (where appropriate);
hazards and instruction
o trained in this SWMS;
o involved in the Work Site Inspection
for the work
 Make sure you are aware of the site’s
emergency procedures.
 If at any time you are unsure or have questions
– Speak Up & ask your Supervisor and/or site
manager for advice.
 Assess weather conditions and adjust work
accordingly
 Locate area where item is being delivered and
assess the area.
 Discuss truck bed access with site supervisor
and make adjustments as necessary
 Assess hazards before commencement. Check
for:
o Drains, gutters and other water
services
o Pits, pot holes and ditches
o Debris that may affect ramps
o other mobile equipment moving within
the working area
Pre Job Risk Assessment 4S  You must inspect the site and complete the 1L Supervisor
Work Site Inspection form (last page of SWMS)
before commencing work activity.
 Do not commence work until you are satisfied
the job is safe!

 Monitor work position at all times. Ensure:
o High visibility clothing worn at all times
o Do not stand behind reversing vehicles
o Allow sufficient distance from plant
during operation (allow sufficient room
for equipment failure –such as plant
rollover)
o No work is conducted in established
“no go zones”
o Alertness at all times. Listen for:
