INTRODUCTION
A. Background
A syllabus was made to realize the intention of curriculum. The
syllabus has several particular purposes related to the curriculum.
However, in creating a syllabus, many things must be considered as if
several dimensions that are created as the basic for creating the syllabus. In
addition, the teacher also has an important role in creating and expediting
the syllabus to achieve learning objectives.
B. Problem formulation
1. How to translating the general goals into syllabus objectives?
2. What is the language content, process, and product in syllabus
design?
3. How to select the appropriate shape of syllabus?
4. Where do the methods belong in comprehensive, instructional
planning?

A. Conclusion
The curriculum provides agreement on policy, while the syllabus is
determined according to the learning content. The contents, processes and
products are the three basic components of an instructional plan. Dubin
and Olhstain introduced five language syllabus formats that can be used:
linear format; modular format; cyclical format; matrix format; and format
the story. The method is related to two other terms, discuss and technique.
B. Suggestion
The teacher must pay attention to the syllabus in carrying out the
learning process. The use and selection of the syllabus must pay attention
to the learning situations and conditions that faced by the students. The
shape of the syllabus must be used according to students' needs and
teacher abilities.
