MAJOR PROJECT:
Infrastructure Upgrading & Remodelling
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
This project has four tasks as stated above. It is based on all the topics that are covered in CE 202 which
includes AutoCAD, MS Project, Excel and MS Word which makes up 60% of your total mark for this subject.
The project tasks carry different sets of marks. All four tasks give a total of 100 marks. Guidelines are
provided to guide you in doing the task. Please ensure to read the guidelines carefully and do the task
accordingly.
Instruction
Draw an expansion plan and 3D model of the civil engineering building 30 Marks
remodelling that you selected in class. This shall be part of your
contribution to the department. Consult the respective coordinators for
their opinion in the design and expansion.
ii. 2D/3D drawing of the expansion plan must include dimensions and 20 marks
text.
Instruction
Do a schedule for the tasks undertaken from the start to completion or 20 marks
submission of your project, using MS Project.
ii. The total duration of the building plan is clearly shown on the schedule 3 marks
vii. The work breakdown structure depends on your planning and 5 marks
tasks, and does not include construction;
Instruction
Do a cost estimate for the materials only that were used for the 20 marks
building designed.
i. Design an appropriate title and heading for the estimate spread sheet. 3 marks
iii. Find out cost of construction materials used in the design and create an 12 marks
excel spread sheet containing the entire material list and their unit
amount. The spread sheet must also indicate the total amount for the
materials.

program that is underway in line with the University’s Strategic Plan. Get more information
during your meeting and interviews with the respective coordinators for each assigned sections of
the buildings.
