QUESTION 1: (35 MARKS)
The Government seeks your advice on the use of the new smart card based
National Identity Card (NIC) for access to free bus transport by university students
as a pilot project. The smart card is intended to be a secure means of identifying a
person with biometric information. Moreover, the smart card has space on-board for
storage of additional information such as bus routes accessible. It is expected that
buses would then have appropriate devices to read the NICs and input the journey
of the student. This would allow the National Transport Authority to settle more
accurate amounts to bus transport companies.

(a) What would be the goals of such a project? (6 marks)

(b) Draft a scope statement for such a project. (8 marks)

(c) What are the operational issues for such a project? (8 marks)

(d) Develop a Work Breakdown Structure for the (6 marks)
