Chapter V

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter presents the summary of the study, findings, conclusion and

recommendation.

Summary of Findings

Based on the result of the survey, the following summary of findings was

drawn:

1. In terms of profile of the respondents;

a) Majority of the respondents were 16-18 years old.

b) This means that, male dominated the total number of respondents.

c) Majority of the respondents are belong in Home Economics.

2. Profile of the respondents on the pros and cons of distance learning

a) The result manifests that submission of the answer sheets and modules

makes me more responsible on finishing task at 4.72 mean.

b) The result reveals that Modular learning improves my communicating

skills 4 mean.

Based on the conducted survey, the profile among grade 12 students in terms

of Academic Track and Technical vocational Livelihood were gathered, the

researchers found out the following:

The result shows that the respondents’ age ranged 16-18 with a frequency

of 41 or 82% is the majority in terms of profiling according to age. The result


revealed that the grade 12 respondents range of 31 or 62% were majority key

informants are male. On the other hand, there were 19 or 38% on the female. In

terms of the profile of the respondents according to track/strand, 15 or 30% of the

respondents are students from Home Economics (HE).

Moreover, the result shows in terms of the time scheduling, more

responsible on finishing task is rated always. On the other hand, become more

participative on submission, do and finish the activities on time and become

proactive are all rated often. However, influence my decision by passing late is

rated sometimes. In terms of communication, the study clearly revealed that

modular learning improves my communication skills and helps me open a

communication line with teachers are rated often. On the other hand, modular

learning creates a good relationship with my classmates and teachers, great way

to build my confidence and helps me interact with my classmates are all rated

sometimes. And lastly for distance learning environment, modular learning taught

me to learn independently and helps me to become focus on accomplishing

tasks are rated often. On the other hand, modular learning helps to abide on the

health protocols for it lessens my exposure outside, makes me motivated and

helps me maximize my ability to think outside the box are all rated sometimes.

The result of the correlation showed that relationship between the profiles

of respondents in terms of gender is significant. Sex (r=1.000, p=.000) since its

p-value is less than .05 (p<.05), there results, therefore, led to the rejection of the

null hypothesis that there is no significant relationship between profile of the

respondents in terms of gender and the pros and cons of modular learning

modality among Grade 12 students.

On the other hand, when it comes to profile in terms of age and

track/strand shows that there is no significant relationship between the pros and

cons of modular learning modality among Grade 12 students. Age (r=-.429,

p=.717), Track/Strand (r=-.995, p=.064), thus, relationship are not significant

since p-value are greater than .05 (p>.05), the result, therefore, led to the

acceptance of the null hypothesis that there is no significant relationship between

profile of respondent in terms of age and track/strand and the pros and cons of

modular learning modality among Grade 12 students.

This means that, male Grade 12 students recognizes the pros and cons of

modular learning modality in this new normal.

Conclusions

Based on the findings, the following conclusions were drawn:

First, the majority key informants were male aged 16-18 years old; the

majority of respondents were from the Home Economics (HE) track.

Secondly, in terms of time scheduling the average mean is 3.8 and overall

description is often it is clear that the time scheduling helps the students in

managing their time in studies. For communication, the average mean is 3.56

and overall description is sometimes. Therefore, the modular learning is very

helpful to the respondents to improve the communication skills or socializing to

the other students. And the distance learning environment, it showed that the

average mean of distance learning environment is 3.46 with an overall

description of sometimes, considering that distance learning has a huge impact

to the respondents.

Lastly, the result of the correlation showed that relationship between the

profiles of respondents in terms of gender is significant. On the other hand, when

it comes to profile in terms of age and track/strand shows that there is no

significant relationship between the pros and cons of modular learning modality

among Grade 12 students.

Recommendations

1. We recommend that if the students didn’t pass their answer sheets on

time, the teachers should be strict in their extended days.

2. We recommend that the teachers will contact the parents of the students

who don’t have gadgets for getting information at giving modules and

others.

3. We recommend that the students will cooperate in submitting the answer

sheets and modules at exact date for early solving of grades.
