PROBLEM AND IT’S BACKGROUND

● Online learning serves as an alternative to physical learning to ensure and cater to the

safety of students amidst this ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

● The method of online learning allows students to grow and learn academically without

setting foot on campus and risking their health.

● Recognizing that learning is a continuous process that occurs wherever and whenever

the individual is receptive, accommodations for the many goals of learning must be

established.
● Students in virtual schools showed greater improvement than their conventional school

counterparts in critical thinking, researching, using computers, learning independently,

problem solving, creative thinking, decision-making, and time management.

● As there is a great improvement in technology, the demand for innovative ways of delivering

education is increasing and this has led to changes in learning and teaching methods.

● This also includes learning about improved time management and the learning environment

in which we students engage with our lecturers or instructors.

● Hence, this study focuses on the impacts of distance learning to the academic performance of

Senior High School students of Santo Rosario Academy. It considers the students'

experiences as well as the observations on their academic performance on the

implementation of distance learning. The researchers believe that this will enable students,

parents and teachers to become aware of the impacts of distance learning to academic

performance. Moreover, they believe that the respondents can provide adequate data and

information to thoroughly understand the students' situations. Lastly, the researchers

envisions that this study will greatly help the students, parents, teaching employees and

future researchers to provide solutions and take actions to the encountered problems and

Related Literature

● It turns out that distance learning is difficult for the students. The most important problem
lies in the abilities of students to manage their studies. Some students are unable to plan
a well-proportioned schedule for learning. They often start to learn at the end of the
semester before the course exam. Many students thought that distance learning would
be more comfortable and less demanding for students.
● Distance learning is one of the most rapidly growing fields of education and its potential
impact on all education delivery systems has been greatly accentuated through the
development of Internet-based information technologies and in particular the World Wide
Web. In order to meet the needs of the changing world’s future, distance learning must
be time flexible, lacking geographical barriers, competitive cost/value, and learner
centered.
Related Studies

● The most claimed benefits of online learning is the effectiveness of the online format in educating

students. If online learning is generally less effective than the conventional face-to-face format, then

some of the aforementioned purported claims and benefits of online learning are highly suspect.

● The degree to which online students are successful as compared to their classroom counterparts is

of interest to teaching faculty and others charged with assessment. By comparing student

performance measures and assessments of learning experience from both online and traditional

sections of a required graduate public administration research methods course taught by the same

instructor, this paper provides evidence that student performance as measured by grade is

SUMMARY
1.What are the impacts of distance learning of Senior High School

students to their academic performance?

2.What are the challenges of Online Learning for students?

3.What is the purpose of distance education despite the growing epidemic?

FINDINGS

1.Respondents’ common problem in Distance Learning

First in the rank was their problem that students experiencing poor time management skills with a

percentage of 32 and was ranked 1.5, same with respondents who had an absence of motivation. In the

third rank, students have poor internet connection with a percentage of 28, inability to get clear instructions

and expectations rank four, and lastly having lack of parental guidance and involvement rank five.
2. Respondents’ answer about the effects of Distance Learning in their Academic

Performances.

First in the rank of the effects of distance learning to the academic performance students

experienced distractions and difficulty in concentration with a percentage of 32 and was ranked at

1.5, the same as the distance learning that may have caused chronic stress and confusion.

Cheating is used by students as a strategy to pass their studies and using slow internet connection

as an excuse to skip class both ranked 3.5 with the percentage of 24. Lastly,it has negative

outcomes to their academic careers.

3. Respondents’ solutions in the Outcomes of Distance Learning on Academic Performance.

First in the rank of solutions that students who believed in one’s own abilities with a

percentage of 64. Students increase engagement with people, which will enhance and assist

you in improving yourself was on the second rank with a percentage of 40. On the third rank

with a percentage of 32, students acknowledged resistance and difficult feelings with

motivation. Students had a positive outlook to understand the learning tools and find more

resources is on the fourth rank with a percentage of 28. In the last rank students found fun

and more interactions with co-students and teachers that will improve more on social

interaction.
Conclusion
1. The five common problems of the respondents in distance learning that may affect their

academic performance are that the respondents are having poor time management skills,

had an absence of motivation who are close to them, having poor connection, inability to

have clear instructions and expectations from the teachers, and lack of parental guidance

and involvement.

2. Among the five issues mentioned, respondents having poor time management skills are

the most common issues affecting respondents’ academic performance in online learning.
3. Students who are experiencing distractions and difficulty in concentration is the main impact of

online learning. Students are distracted by digital technology, even though it is required in the

online class they get more attention and unable to concentrate on the online class. While others

believe that the distance learning may have caused chronic stress and confusion to the students.

4. Students learned to create our basic considering capacities and displayed self-motivation through

this online learning actuated by the epidemic. This moreover incorporates learning approximately

made strides time administration and the learning environment in which we understudies lock in

with our speakers or educates.

5. According to the respondents’ answers, they agree that the best solution in the

Impacts of Distance Learning to Academic Performance is to believe in one’s own

abilities. Their next option is to increase engagement with people, which will enhance

and assist you in improving yourself. Moreover, having a positive attitude towards

educational material and identifying additional knowledge can help you to know more

things.
RECOMMENDATIONS

To the Students. The researchers help the students to know the Impacts of

Distance Learning to their Academic Performance. Students must only think

positive thoughts and be disciplined while doing their tasks

To the Parents. The Parents must be the ones who help their children develop

inner confidence and encourage self-regulation. It is the responsibility of parents to

support and assist their children in preparing for and achieving their goals.
To the Teachers. They must know how to help the students develop their self-

confidence and build their motivations to fight for their hopes and dreams. They must

provide guidance for teaching and learning process

.To the Present Researchers. They must know the problems, effects, and solutions

in order to survive online learning. Be aware of the students' issues, consequences,

as well as self-esteem expansions.

For the Future Researchers. Researchers interested in this topic may use

these research findings as a preliminary step for their own research study. It can

help them expand their ideas and develop creative research paper ideas.
