TEACHING DRAMA

SUMMARY:
Drama is a unique and distinctive genre of literature. There are four types of drama, they
are comedy, tragedy, tragicomedy and melodrama. All these types have the common
characteristics of drama genre; they are plot, characters, music and dialogue. These genres
originated in different times but each of them has its own characteristics. However, all of them
have their place in modern culture and should be appreciated.

REFLECTION:
For many decades, drama has been in our world. It gives us feelings, emotions, morality
and sometimes quotes. Nowadays, teachers and professors are teaching drama in schools and
universities because it helps the students to speak fluently, build up self-confidence, learn how to
express feelings in different ways. As an English teacher, we should foster the idea of reading
literature and encourage our students to share their thoughts about literature with their peers.
When students study literature, they learn to appreciate words. They travel to other realms and
times through the texts they’ve read and most importantly they understand about their own
culture and others.
