BIG IDEAS/ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS:


1. Big Idea: Complex characters serve the purpose of relating the events of a drama to move the plot along
efficiently.
2. EQ: How do objects relate to characters and plot development?

OBJECTIVE(S) (Be sure to include all four parts):


The students will analyze how character affect the objects and plot within the story to 100% accuracy.

MATERIALS:
● Deconstructionism power point presentation
● A Raisin in the Sun text

ACTIVITIES (There are three sections here):


OPENING (Introduction, purpose, hook)
● Please Do Now: Students will write about a memorable time in their life, that is something from
that day was taken out of it, then the day could no longer be their most memorable day.

BODY (Bulleted step by step/differentiation must be included)


● Power point presentation on aspects of Deconstructionism
● Gallery Walk where students identify the sign, signified, and signifier from one of four
categories
○ Harry Potter
○ Disney
○ Star Wars
○ Marvel Universe

CLOSURE (Wrap up and brief summary): How will you plan to restate the lesson objective?
● Students will take a character from A Raisin in the Sun and identify their sign, signifier, and
signified (HLA 10)
● Students will exit ticket a question they have about the lesson (LA10)

No students require accommodations or modifications for this lesson.
