1. Big Idea: Identifying character traits and qualities early on can help readers understand their motivations
and actions later in the story.

OBJECTIVE(S) (Be sure to include all four parts):


The student will complete the Act 1 Scene 1 questions for A Raisin in the Sun as we read the play together to
100% accuracy.

MATERIALS:
● A Raisin in the Sun play
● Act 1 Scene 1 questions

ACTIVITIES (There are three sections here):

OPENING (Introduction, purpose, hook)


● (H10) Review assigned questions
BODY (Bulleted step by step/differentiation must be included)
● (H10) We will read the play together and double back to review questions 3-4 at a time.
● (L10) We will read the play together and answer the questions together one by one.

CLOSURE (Wrap up and brief summary): How will you plan to restate the lesson objective?
● Using the questions we answered today, the students will apply their knowledge to the character
chart for homework.
● (L10) This group needs more prompting and guidance, so I will model what to put in their
character charts before they do it for Monday.
