Let’s Explore!

get ahead* in her career!

* To “get ahead” means to advance at work, at school, or life in general.

Instructions: Read the text aloud.

I have some exciting news! I am officially employed as Cambridge's newest freelancer.

I was invited to join the magazine publication last week. This is a fantastic opportunity for
me to prove myself as a serious writer. Honestly, I'm nervous. This is a big change from
sharing my experience online.
Freelance writing is not a permanent, salaried position. Hopefully, they will recognize my
hard work and determination and change their minds in the future. It would be nice to have
some work stability. I hope to be a voice for my age group when it comes to travel, interests
and current events. My experience in blogging from different parts of the world should come
in handy. It gives me a lot of joy to share my experiences with others.
Do you think working as a freelancer is a good idea?
Did I make the right choice?
Send me your thoughts!
Sal.
