Gen-Ed Self Analysis

1. What have you learned about yourself as a writer by taking this course?

a. I have learned to be more patient with myself when it comes to writing,

sometimes writing can become very overwhelming and mind

consuming. But I believe that this idea of being patient and letting

something difficult that is troubling me just sit and rest with me, then I

feel that I am able to write freely and have endless flow to my writing.

Another important thing I have learned throughout this course is that I

truly am a powerful writer and anybody can be a powerful writer, I

believe this course has taught me that I don’t necessarily have to be

“writing” physically to become a good writer. I am a writer, I write

mentally, day by day, and I think that’s so important to note that there

is no such thing as a “bad” writer. This is what makes my writing so

powerful.

2. What was the most rewarding assignment for you and why?

a. Personally, the most rewarding assignment to me was the rhetorical analysis

assignment. It actually was one of my favorite essays to do during this course,

I had wrote on the power of eroticism and how women are shunned away

from expressing that power because of a male suppression forced onto

women. After I finished writing this essay, I went on to share it to a lot of my

friends and they all agreed with the message I was trying to portray through

the essay. Another somewhat rewarding assignment was the IEP essay as

well, it was very difficult but what made it very amusing for me was because I

was able to keep asking myself endless questions. I wish we had more time to

keep exploring the IEP in this course because it would’ve been very

interesting to hear some really good feedback from possibly other classmates!

3. What is the single, most important principle of writing you will continue to

develop after this course and why?

a. The most important writing principle I believe I will continue to develop after

this course is the active voice that continues to brew deep down inside me.

The idea of having an active voice through writing means that I am able to

make the communications and understandings hit the readers very close to

home. As much as I like to think and feel things constantly, I want my writing

to give those same exact feelings to other people, which is why I believe that

the powerful voice that I include within my writing is such a deep and

sentimental feeling that is left feeling nostalgic for the reader.
